I first tried using MAPP gas with my old Bernzomatic propane torch. As expected, it was a no-go. The flame was weak & not hot enough to melt the bronze brazing rod. Received the Turbo Torch STK-9 this afternoon, screwed it onto the MAPP gas cylinder, got used to adjusting the valve, and went to work. The owner's manual has some nice pictures inside showing the user how to adjust the gas flow to get a nice hot flame. As a total newbie with brazing (first time!), this torch made it pretty easy. It pumped out the heat, getting the steel sheet metal nice & red hot. The brazing rod flux & bronze core melted nicely, flowing into the pinholes. This torch practically screams QUALITY, compared to the much less expensive Bernzomatic torch I've used for years. It's heavy, but nicely finished.
