I appreciate the included (digital) reading material, which is brief but fairly concise. Notably, this set does not come with a flattening stone, which you will need to keep your sharpening stone straight. No points taken off for that, because it was made abundantly clear I would not get one with this set.For particularly harsh reprofiling tasks, I may look into getting a 400 grit stone, but for my current needs the included 1000 and 6000 seem to do just fine.With some practice, I'm now getting a pretty good edge on my knives. I have not made use of the included angle guide, because I think the knives I'm working on would not benefit from it (small non-cookware knives, some with Scandinavian grinds).I've noticed a few comments about difficulty fitting the stone onto its rubber shoe and into the base. While it takes a very small amount of fiddling, I really haven't had any trouble with it. The fit may vary, but mine seats in a perfectly satisfactory way. I've been putting the shoe on the stone before seating it into the base, if that's not the most obvious method.The rubber underneath the base of both the stone and leather strop is not particularly grippy, but you shouldn't be putting so much force into your stroke that they would slide around. At what I judge to be an appropriate pressure, neither tool slides on my table despite the rubber not providing much grip.The leather strop seems to do a pretty good job with final touches. The leather used feels a bit harder than I expected it would be, but as my first strop I have nothing to go off of but my own prior research.Overall, I'm satisfied with what I got for the cost. Haven't spent a massive amount of time using this set, so I will update my review if my opinions change with more experience. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent quality product *by G***Y on December 21, 2019* Using a sharpening stone on my kitchen knives was a daunting prospect. But, it turned out to be easier than it looked. t took a couple of tries before I got the hang of it. Most of the time I end up with an edge that is more than sharp enough. And, if I don't I just give it another try. Its actually kind of meditative.The stones and bamboo mount are all high quality. I used the supplied knife guide, but found it easier to work without it. Its really not so hard to keep the knife at the correct angle. As with many reviews, its best to start with a knife that has a beaten up edge. Firstly, you won't make it any worse! Secondly, it is very satisfying to take blunt edge and make it sharp again by removing all the dings and chips.Great product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Time-consuming to use *by L***N on April 19, 2021* Somewhat complicated. Not for someone wanting easy sharpening device. Quality is excellent but lots of steps are included and a fair amount of time is necessary for use.
