This one is even better in that you pull the string once, and it draws smoke from our cooking out of the house. Pull the string a second time and it blows fresh air into the house. The third pull shuts off the fan and closes the flaps outside. My only issue is that the flaps are not as airtight as mom's old fan and though I'm not terribly concerned during warmer seasons, I am concerned when winter rolls around.
