Mounted it on the starboard rail near the pilot seat. It is secure and works well with the larger vacuum cups or smaller containers in conjunction with a thick coozie provided the coozie is tall enough to extend past the upper retaining ring. My suggestion for improvement would be to offer an optional design offsetting the cup base and retaining ring such that the cup would sit on the inboard side and abreast of the mounting rail. By doing so, it would pose less interference for docking and fishing and it would perhaps allow mounting on the lower rail (too tall to fit between as designed).
