By design, yes it is for full platform that sits under the whole mattress. However I ordered king and it is not a perfect length. **Q: Can you wash this in the home washer and dryer?** A: Yes you can. Already washed it with Woolite darks and dried it in low setting and it came out as new. **Q: is it 3 or 4 sided?** A: 3 sided **Q: Will this fit a smaller, full size, bed?** A: Technically, you could use it. The issue is the "Once you've made your bed" part. The fabric is thin and will tend to tuck under the mattress along with the sheet. You have to partially lift the mattress, reach under and pull out the skirt to get it to fall correctly. It's a slight effort that makes making the bed a pain.
