I saw some videos and instructions about 'cutting the connector with a jeweler's saw' and so on... not needed. The cable plugged perfectly into my iMac and I now run dual SSD drives in RAID stripping and it's blazing fast.Note: There is a special cable for the iMac that adds a couple of wires - I read it somewhere and even found it... if you happen upon that SATA connector, it's about $30 but it does add some kind of temperature monitoring for the iMac. Without it, the fan for the HD defaults to "high" and sounds like a vacuum cleaner... like 5,000+RPM and you can start hearing the fan around 2,000RPM. Fortunately, there's an "app for that", and it's free... found it here: [...] and it worked perfect... I can set the speed wherever I want. The downside, you don't know if the fan is going fast enough for the temp, or if you're blowing too much air when the HDD or SDD is cool enough. Just something to consider. I never heard my fan before the upgrade, so I set mine in the mid 2,000RPM range - can hear it a little but I know the SSDs are cool.Note 2: Instructions for making an upgrade on your iMac (or MacBook/Mac Pro/etc.) can be found here: [...]Disclaimer: Apple does not recommend you do your own work... consider the Apple care warranty and your abilities before you dive into this project. But it didn't work for my situation. HP DL360P Gen8, using this and a 2.5" SSD resulted in a red screen when trying to boot from the SSD.
