We understand already Terry - "the order is bad"* See how I summed it up in four words? (Terry will, repeatedly, tells us this in long exposition)In typical fashion, Terry drags out the book (in this one through long expositions about the Order)At the end, he speeds through the interesting bits, never developing characters - and only teasing them...* spoiler (?)... to the extent, he forgot Jebra existed and did not wrap up her story line with everyone elses.What a long slog through the 11 books of the series.Book 2 was the best (it was essentially, book 1 and 2 combined - yes, he repeats that much)The 2nd book of the Chainfire trilogy was also good.I enjoyed that that the trilogy actually didnt have a 'bad' guy of the book trend, and felt like one continuing story.Great concepts, most of it is his 'philosophical' rants - which would be fine, but not every page - the same thing.Regret not skipping over half the book that were merely repeats... (seriously, I was at my wits end before Chainfire, then it picked up, and the last book was the last straw to where I will not continue to the Richard and Kalan series - which apparently will not only not offer anything new, but needlessly kill of characters you like. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very very good *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2017* Although Wizards First Rule will always be my favorite book in the series I have to tip my hat to the author for the ending. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Mr. Goodkind left NO strings hanging. The ending is fabulous. I cried when I read the last sentence. It was SO perfect to the series and the character.This has been the most thrilling series I have ever read other than Lord of The Rings when I was very young.Terry Goodkind is a master story teller. He is NOT a sophisticated writer and his use of grammar often makes me cringe. His characters are very much alive. I look forward to reading the three addendum books entitled A Richard and Kahlan Novel. I'll read very slowly as I never want this series to end. I can't say much else without revealing and introducing spoilers - so I'll just leave this here. The entire series is great and a JOY to read - full of twists and turns. He is a Master fantasy "story teller" not a prolific writer. ### ⭐ Holy Crap Am I Glad That Is Over! *by M***O on Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2020* Well the last book didn’t disappoint, it was just as bad as the whole series. Basically you can just read the first book and be done...nothing really changes.The biggest difference between the last three books and every book before is that the final trilogy draws out painfully long the way cactus same pattern that is normally done in a single book.On a positive note, the system of magic was much better thought out towards the end and there is a lot of great and creative ideas. A very cool world has been imagined with some awesome characters. Unfortunately, reading about it is painful.There is almost no action at all. In the last few books for example I think the most action you get is a description of what amounts to a very violent game of rugby with a small battle after. Instead of action, you get to read endlessly about people traveling, reading and discussing books, non-stop recaps and characters repeating themselves about the theory of life.I’ve never read a book much less a series where I have skimmed so much of it just to get through. That held right to the end as I skimmed even the last boring chapter trying to put a neat little bow on everything.
