The only picture shown here shows 2 holes.** A: It only has one all the way through. And it should work.. **Q: Anyone put these on a new 12-904?** A: Not sure what the 12-904 is but I've put them on a Stanley Bailey #5 Jack Plane. Fits fine. **Q: Will this fit a vintage Stanley no.4?** A: I put it on an old Stanley No. 7 (probably 1940's model) and it worked fine. Had to use the old mounting screws with some washers to make it work. Not sure about a No. 4 **Q: Could this me made to fit a no. 3 Stanley hand plane?** A: Number 3 doesn’t have screw on the toe of the tote, instead it has a metal stub up into tote and is smaller tote or handle. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my vintage Stanley #7 jointer plane *by J***L on Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2019* Put these on a vintage Stanley #7. There was some tuning needed, but only minor. There have been many tweaks to Stanely’s designs over the years, it’s amazing how smoothly it went. The #7 jointer plane does have two screws on the tote. Drilling through the starter hole ended up perfect for me. I test fit it a dozen times and thought it needed to be further toward the rear. But as you tighten down the long screw the whole tote moves back toward the rear of the plane, lining the hole up perfectly! I did knock maybe a 32nd or 16th off the base of the tote to help fit as the long screw was not long enough as it was. I spent quite a long time hand turning a countersink bit to give relief enough for the short front tote screw to fit. The front knob fit perfectly on the raised morning up front. Snug and perfect. The new knob was a bit shorter than the original (again Stanley varied this considerably overt the years) so I just used a bench grinder to shorted the front threaded rod. All in all it took me a couple hours to replace the tote and knob (the original tote was broken), clean and tune the plane up including sharpening the blade. It feels wonderful, I love the size and shape of the tote, it feels and looks faithful to the original, but I think they are a bit thicker and more substantial which is good for my hands. I wear med sized gloves, The plane has turned out perfect. Thanks so much to the seller! I might have enjoyed making my own, there are templates online, but I much preferred getting these and getting back to work on my main project quickly. There are those who would say it is sacrilege to do this to a nice vintage plane, and I agree to a point. But I’m not a collector, I’m a heavy user. I now have a plane that is very functional for me, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tote and Knob For Users, but Requires Some Modifications *by R***T on Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2017* I ordered three sets of these for my vintage Stanley nos. 4, 5, and 7 planes. They arrived quickly, individually wrapped in plastic sleeves like you'd see hanging on a store shelf. Each kit contains a tote, knob, and threaded rod. The tote and knob are beautifully-figured rosewood with a semi-gloss finish (possibly polyurethane, not sure). The included rod is longer than I needed for any of my planes and fully-threaded (unlike the picture and the rods that come with Stanley planes). I had to do some light modifications to the totes for each of the planes, but ultimately I had these fit to the three tools in about 20 minutes. Since these kits contain no instructions at all, I thought I'd write out my process here in the review for anybody that might benefit from them.For the no. 4, I had to remove material from the top front of the tote to allow the lateral adjustment lever to move freely. To create some guidelines, I removed the lever cap, blade, and chipbreaker from the plane and moved the lateral adjustment lever fully to one side. I then seated the tote as best as I could, moved the lever alongside it, and made a light pencil mark. I then repeated this on the other side. I now had two lines on either side of the tote that I worked down to with a rasp and sandpaper. This process took about five minutes and wasn't difficult, but it did remove the finish from the tote so if you're worried about aesthetics this may be a dealbreaker. This leaves you with a tote that fits, but the threaded rod that came with my plane was a tad too short to reach the hole which required me to use the included threaded rod. I put everything together and tightened it up, but the included rod was a bit too long so I used a hacksaw to remove 1/8" of the rod at a time until it fit perfectly - ultimately I did that twice so 1/4". I would recommend removing a bit at a time like I did to avoid any problems with small variances between my plane and yours. The front knob required no modification, though I am replacing the taller-style knobs anyway - if you have the smaller, mushroom-type knobs, you may need to figure something else out.For the no. 5 and no. 7 planes, I didn't need to remove any material from the top of the totes or use the included threaded rod, but I did need to finish boring the front-most hole in the bottom of the tote for the front tote screw. This hole is already started on the underside of the tote, so all that I needed to do was quickly finish it using a 1/4" bit (I used a hand drill and cleaned up with a bit of sandpaper). Again, no problem with the front knobs.As far as feel, fit, and finish; the knobs are pretty close to the ones on my planes already, but the totes are quite a bit different. They're much thicker, sort of the like the totes that come on Veritas planes, and I quite like how they feel in my hand - more chunky, if that makes any sense. Since these are thicker, they seem to add a considerable amount of heft to my planes - particularly the no. 4 - which I also enjoy. The knobs fit perfectly, but the totes - while solid - definitely don't look like they came with the plane - the base of the tote looks bit awkward. The wood is beautiful and the finish is nice, though some may find it a bit shiny/slick for their tastes.I bought these to replace chipped, cracked, glued, and brittle knobs/totes that came with my vintage planes, and I'm very happy with the result. I'm not a collector - these are tools that I use - so the looks aren't really as important to me as the feel, and these feel good to me. I usually prefer a simple BLO/paste wax finish on my tool handles, but I find that I don't really mine the shiny finish on these as much as I thought that I would - I think it will wear well over time.
