This is best done as soon as you get your charger, in order to prevent problems, but I've repaired two that were broken this way:1- the small plastic with connectors that insert into the tablet -- the plastic will separate / fall apart. Run a thin strip of super glue along where the plastic pieces fit together. This will stop it from separating.2- the cable running into the small connector that inserts into the tablet is weak and, due to the angle of insertion, the cable constantly bends at that point until the wires disconnect. Solution: a- buy "liquid electrical tape" currently sold at home depot and made by "Gardner Bender" ($5) See that the cable is straightened at the connection point. Apply 3 thick coats of the liquid tape, letting each dry between coats and ensuring the cable enters the connecting device straight. Thiw will harden and the cable will no longer bend at the connection point and will remove the stress causing the wires to separate. b- If you want to strengthen the cable/connecting point even more, buy black heat-shrink tubing 3/8" or 1/2". Run it over the cable to the weak point and apply heat source to shrink it around the cable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good replacement, my fix to its cracking-head-problem, and some good news *by D***L on Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2016* My Kindle cord appears to have lasted longer than most other reviewers. I want to make three points about this replacement cord.1. It works.2. The anomaly that others have noticed -- that having this cord plugged in does something funny to the touch screen -- is still true. It appears that having this cord plugged in means you have to use a notably more delicate touch on the screen (if you use a finger, I haven't tried a stylus).3. The one I got on 11/01/2016 DOES HAVE THE EXTRA USB PORT on the brick.To get around the problem of the fragile head I've implemented a simple fix. I tied a piece of dental floss around the base of the head, just below that peculiar five-prong power connector, then tied a second loop using a battery as a spacer. Now, when I want to pull the cord off, I pull on this loop of dental floss and the head comes right out. This should enable me to get more life out of my Surface. Hope it works for you. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Probably the best off power supply I've ever bought *by K***A on Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2016* My dog wound up chewing through the cord for the original power supply/charger for my Surface Pro 2. However, the replacement I got from Power City Inc wound up being fine. It doesn’t run any hotter than the original did and the price was pretty okay. After finding out Microsoft no longer sold the original chargers, I was rather hesitant to get a third party one. I’ve ordered cheap third party power supplies before, usually for Apple products, only to wind up having to buy a real one later. I actually had one adapter melt the nylon sweater it was sitting next to.I chose this one specifically because it said it came with the USB port built in. Since the Surface doesn’t have many USB ports and I really didn’t want to get another hub so I could use a mouse and charge my phone at the same time, this was really important to me. While a number of reviews here received products without the USB port or a charging indicator light, mine actually had both. At a quick glance, it was almost indistinguishable from the original adapter.In fact, the only real differences I’ve been able to note, besides the lack of a certified Microsoft sticker on the new one, was the longer power cord it came with. I never really had an issue with the length of the original, but it was nice knowing I could go a little further away and still charge my computer.Overall, it performed exactly as I had hoped it would.
