The tension clamp on the pole is well made and I wasn't concerned with it slipping. The arms stacked at the joint add some reinforcement. I was able to loosen the joint bolts to a nice spot where there is some resistance but still moves without swinging wildly. If you can make or find an insert bushing, then you could make it work. The two poles I have measure 1.381 and 1.382, there is a plastic type insert/shim bushing in the clamp and is almost closed where the screw/bolt tighten the ends together. Sorry, am not willing to remove arm to measure clamp diameter with screw/bolt loosened and insert removed. **Q: is anyone using this arm to hold a monitor slightly heavier than 22 lbs?** A: Mas support weight up to 22lbs **Q: Will this arm fit a varipole by gravity? cannot find the varipole diameter.** A: It fits most sizes.
