To this point, this ruins…** A: When the cup starts getting down to around 1/2 way empty, your nose starts touching and blocking the little air vent in the center of the lid. This prevents liquid flow. Once you realize that this is the problem, you’ll become aware, and avoid pressing your nose against the air vent hole. TIP: You could drill another small hole up towards the opposite edge from the mouth hole. I’d drill it 1/2 way in between the current center hole and the outer edge, to avoid interfering with the seal. **Q: Does it leak after weeks of being used? I really want to buy it but I need to know if it leaks** A: You have to screw the lid on very carefully; it's possible to have it slightly cross-threaded which allows it to leak. Be sure to turn it backwards a bit until it's firmly seated, then proceed to screw it on tightly and it won't leak, even after weeks of use. Being plastic with only 1 thread it's a bit trickier than screwing a metal nut onto a bolt. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The real facts about this cup *by on Reviewed in the United States March 20, 2025* I was searching for a microwaveable, insulated travel cup. The reviews for this cup were contradictory so I decided to take a chance. It's not everything I hoped for but, for the price, I'm keeping it.1) It is REALLY pretty with a clean white exterior and a silicone band in your choice of color. The band provides a great grip, and I assume it also contributes to the insulation. The cup fits easily in my cup holder.2) It IS insulated (the packaging says it is double walled) but it is not extremely insulated. I can feel that the cup is warm, which means it is leaking heat, but it's much better than no insulation at all. Specifically, I used to fill a paper cup of coffee, the cup was too hot to hold comfortably, and the coffee was stone cold in 30 minutes. I can carry this new cup in comfort and the last of the coffee is still almost warm after 90 minutes.3) It is dishwasher safe (top-rack per the packaging). I've run it through a few times already.4) It is microwave safe. The packaging recommends nuking it in 20 second increments. I nuked it for longer before I read the instructions, but I probably wouldn't go so far as to boil water in it.5) I was so puzzled by the reviews about this cup being leakproof and the lid being screw-on. I thought -- and hoped -- that I could screw on the lid and toss it into a bag. Let's be clear: It's leakproof the way every cup that holds liquid should be leakproof: It doesn't leak liquid out of the bottom. That's a pretty basic expectation. It also doesn't leak out from under the lid, but neither does a paper cup with a plastic snap-on lid. The lid is screw-on, so it's secure, but there is a sipping hole at the top which has no cover and will pour liquid if you tip it over. It's a fine cup if you keep it upright. It's not the throw it in my bag travel cup I was hoping for.Overall, a good cup, but not a great cup. I prefer something that I could close up entirely, but this is the only cup I have found so far that is both insulated and microwaveable. Easy to sip from, but no device to mess with before drinking. And, it can spill, so please be careful. Easy on/easy off top that locks on, but isn’t a hassle. Just be sure to put the lid on flat and give it a secure twist. The rubber ring keeps it from leaking, but it needs to be on securely. If it’s on crooked, it’ll leak. So just double check it before use.Keep drinks hot, but not too hot. Gets to a drinkable temperature rather quick without going cold. And keeps your cold drinks cold. Good thermal tumbler.This is my 3rd mug, as one of my first mugs finally broke/cracked after maybe 10 years of use, including washing in the dishwasher each time. So, very dishwasher safe. And it resists staining from coffee, or sometimes forgetting to wash it.Lots of colors. Good grip/good feel. Cool on the outside. And really a pleasing cup to drink from. I recently dropped it outside on the lid when it was mostly empty, but this still ended up putting a big crack in it when twisting the lid off/on the next time. It didn't actually leak though, so I kept using it while I waited for the new one (lime green this time) to arrive, and I will actually keep the old one as a back up. For removing dark tea stains if your regular hand washing or dishwahser doesn't do it, half a tablet of Bottle Brite left for 30 min-2 hours and some scrubbing with a sponge while it still has water and tablet disintegrated in it works great.I have used this 5 days per week for 15 weeks, putting it in the dishwasher once per week and washing by hand four other days per week. It is still in perfect shape. It does not leak even though I have 2 tea bag strings hanging out. With the built-in band on it, it does not get too hot to hold. I use a water boiler that puts the water at 208 degrees. Normally with a ceramic mug, I would wait 25 minutes to drink it due to being too hot for me, so with this one, it's about a 70 minute wait, which means I can fill it from home, drive to work, and drink it after I'm settled in. But instead of staying at a decent temperature for 20 minutes with a ceramic mug, it's good for a couple hours. The dishwasher gets rid of the staining from black tea. It is top rack-safe only, I believe. I know someone with this mug who has had it for a long time (clear by the faded pink color from many washes), and it's still working for her, so I have high hopes.
