He picked up the pushing motion within about ten minutes, and after a few days of practice was able to master the steering. He has yet to figure the brake out, but so far that hasn't been an issue (he's only two, so I'm ALWAYS right there with him to slow it down or stop it for him.) We almost sprung for the name brand scooter for twice the price, and now I'm so glad we didn't. It's not flimsy, but not the most sturdy, either. The handle is one fixed height, which is disappointing. My kids actually have a hard time with the tilt-to-turn feature.
