I am pleased with the mechanical "cranking system" to raise and lower the vented top, water resistant umbrella. Granted, this is not the thickest "stalk" or pole however, neither is it the thinnest! it is made of tubular steel and my guess is if given minimum care with the use of an umbrella cover it should last many, many, seasons especially if kept in a storage shed (or some such accommodation) in the off season! I'm in NYC and the winters can sometimes be brutal.Hey folks, I spend a small fortune in time, energy and moola on buying and using stuff that I buy here on amazon so if this review was HELPFUL, please give me a click!!?? Pole had a defect in the tilt mechanism but vendor took care of issue immediately. *by L***E on July 1, 2019* I loved the umbrella when we received it, very nice looking and looked just as advertised. A very nice addition on our patio. Ordered on a Wednesday, received on Saturday. As is our bad luck, the tilt mechanism was defective and broke after 4 days. I contacted the seller and they responded immediately saying they would replace the umbrella. These things happen through no one's fault. I am very impressed with the seller's service and would definitely order from them again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lights didn't work after first use *by M***N on August 13, 2019* The lights don’t work. They worked the second day it was up (assuming it takes a day to charge) and then haven’t worked sense though is out in the full North Carolina sun all day.UPDATE: I changed from two stars to four stars. The customer service team was extremely responsive. They provided potential solutions for the issue and when those didn't work they offered a partial refund of the product. I am happy with the umbrella overall and believe that with a partial refund it brings the umbrella down to a cost that is reasonable and matches what I would have been willing to pay for an umbrella of this quality without lights.
