## Description

The Italian Tyrolean axe blade is about 8 1/4 inches wide from the top to the bottom of the cutting edge and 9 inches long from the top of the blade to the end of the poll. The Straight handle is 35 inches. overall weight of the axe 4.1 lbs. These are hand made in Italy so the handles may have blemishes, each axe is truly unique. The straight handle and big head is great for powerful blows that allows for very rapid felling. The Italian style Axes are wonderful and have many advantages over "Western" style chopping and felling Axes, with slip through tomahawk Style handle that are easy to replace witch is a hint to there original origins.

    A great axe

This is a great axe.  I am sure it could be said there are higher quality axes that are no doubt more expensive that are made in Sweden.  But I love using this one.  With it's wide bit it is a great axe to use for scrubland.  I also use it to break down well seasoned logs that I have already taken a maul to.  This Tyrolean/Trento axe has a handle that is much improved over the original ones that were on offer with a head kept in place by friction.  The one I received from Wiseman was secured with what looks like a round safety wedge.  I had been desperately seeking to get another one of these axes because my first one is a joy to use and I like to have a backup of the tools I find absolutely essential for when "the happening" goes down.  They seem to go fast so all I can say is if you have been thinking of getting one you better hurry before they sell out.  I have been waiting for over year for someone to stock this axe.
