The lights are located inside the edge of the framing, acting as a border when illuminated. The LED message board is meant for use with either wet-erase or liquid chalk markers (not included.) We suggest using neon colors to better contrast the black background. This LED writing board provides users with 17 light effects, including both static illumination and flashing presentations. To change between settings, simply push the button on the outside of the frame. The 17 effects are: all colors, all colors flashing, green, green flashing, blue, blue flashing, red, red blinking, blue and green, blue and green blinking, red and blue, red and blue flashing, red and green, red and green blinking, slow fade in-between colors, all colors chasing, all colors flashing quickly, blend of all settings.
