We have both US and Asian manufacturing. We used to only sell US products, however the QC on those was not as good as our Asian suppliers (they've been using Aluminum Foil bags for a lot longer than we have). Discount Mylar Bags absolutely supports buying American for any reason, so if you'd like them let me know if you place an order. However, please note there is another large seller on Amazon trashing Asian bags in his listing as 'not as good'. (And saying he is selling 'American' bags) As someone who works around flexible packaging on a daily basis and has for years, that is salesmanship. The other seller is mainly selling 4.3 mil bags from a company in LA. However, that company imports HUGE quantities of bags (many millions) from Asia, which I don't even think the other seller knows. So I recommend folks please take claims of 'American-made' bags on Amazon with a grain of salt, as very few sellers understand the product and its supply chain and are just resellers with little knowledge of flexible packaging.Other than 1 bag (our 1 Gallon ShieldPro Econ), all our substrates are 5 mil 5 layer bags with much better Oxygen /Moisture transfer rates (in some cases by a factor of 10) than the 4.3 mil bags they are selling and advertising as 'better than the imports'. My apologies if I went the long way around in my answer, but I hope that helps! **Q: Are these resealable?** A: Sure, cut below seal strip and I just use an iron and edge of table, or sealer on food saver. Vaccum feature doesnt work in food saver, unless u put cut up strips of the proper bags that are designed for vaccum machines. This slows air to leave mylar bags. Or a carpet vac. can suck out alot of air.Just close 80% and leave a small hole to reseal when vaccumed! Hope that helps... **Q: What kind of sealer works best for these?** A: For small quantities, I recommend a regular clothing iron, usually a little above the wool setting. For larger quantities, I use and recommend a 10" impulse sealer. They generally run about $40-$60 on Amazon. Thanks! **Q: Are these intended to be used as a liner for a more sturdy container? I used three pouches and sealed white rice and quinoa with a 500cc oxygen absorber (sold separately). I used a vacuum sealer without the vacuum part, just the heat strip, to seal them (while pushing out as much air as I could) and within 24 hours, they looked vacuum sealed. I was able to get them all sucked down with an oxygen absorber. I had no issues with micro-punctures like many people complain about with Mylar bags. Exactly what I needed for my long term food storage supply. I put two 300cc oxygen absorbers per bag hoping that gives it just a little more life span.
