That would give it an additional star rating. Unfortunately it loses a star because the description stating it'll last 7000 lock/unlock cycles on a full charge is a lie. It lasted from Sept 1st to Jan 2nd on a single in charge and I certainly didn't use it to 60 times a day.I dunno if I should blame Google for this one, but I thought this NFC & bluetooth padlock because the Google result said it's got a higher IP rating than it actually has. I wanted 67 but this is only 45. I just wanted something more waterproof is all.But here's the thing. This lock works pretty well. Now granted, I have to download an app and provide my email address and location permissions, which I'm not cool with, but this thing is only $60 so I can't really expect too much.Construction has a veneer of being solid and sturdy, but I'm certain if thrown through the ringer this would not be any more secure than a $5 padlock. The shackle itself is not a very secure design, though it appears it's not bypassed easily. (LPL may disagree but he's sort of a god.) But I digress.The reason you get this is because it's a smart lock. Bluetooth function works great if you wanna take the time to 1. Get your phone out 2. Open the app 3. Select the padlock 4. Turn on the padlock 5. Wait 6. Tap the "unlock" buttonbut for people on the go like me, that's just too many seconds! I rather like that all I have to do is 1. Grab the NFC fob 2. Turn on the padlock 3. Hold the fob in front of the padlockand that's just seconds, instead of nearly a minute.I'd like to give this thing a higher rating, but it just doesn't feel like it provides the same quality a Master Lock would.5 stars for the gimmick2 stars for the bluetooth implementation2 stars for the construction5 stars for the nfc implementation ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars A solid, well-constructed lock with a variety of unlock options *by N***. on Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2021* Being a gadgety sort of fellow, I was anxious to try out this lock to secure the cable that I use to lock up my bike on trips "around town". The lock appears to be well constructed of sturdy materials that would at least give pause to the common thief. Besides allowing use of a phone-based app to control the lock (and log its use) it also has a Samsung Watch app (hooray! I am Samsung user not an Apple fan-boy) and the ability to use an (included) NFC token. Once the app is set up and the lock registered, it's a straightforward process to lock and unlock. You can customize lock behaviors like how long to wait before freezing the lock once it is unlocked. The lock log tracks time and location information (using your phone's GPS) about lock and unlock events. It seems though that the NFC mode and the phone app mode cannot easily co-exist. Once you select NFC mode in the phone app, you can only use the NFC token and you then do not log activity data. You can re-enable the phone app at any time and you can always use the NFC token when the phone is connected to the lock instead of the app. If you want to use the NFC independently you lose the logging data. The Samsung watch app is more restrictive than the NFC. You can only use it when the phone is connected to the lock and the watch connected to the phone. So the watch app will not work in the absence of your phone acting as an intermediary. This makes the watch app basically an alternate user interface to your phone app rather than a stand-alone control option. I would say the lock is indeed rugged and probably weatherproof (given its thick rubber outer case) and it has some cool features. Some additional tweaks to the watch app and the NFC interface to make them work independently and without additional steps would make the product superlative ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Appears well made, instructions and App could be tweaked *by S***H on Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2019* eGeeTouch Outdoor Padlock 3rd Gen. I have only started using this over the last couple of weeks, so real world test is limited at this time. I purchased this for my shop so I could let my wife and son have access and also to allow my neighbor access as needed without a dozen keys floating around. Plus with no keyhole that is one less area. For rain, dirt and corrosion to interfere The lock itself feels well made but the software could be tweaked for a better product. Setting up the "Primary" NFC device is pretty straightforward, the challenges occur when allowing permissions to other devices. This is the where the most improvement could be made. Another item of note is that in order to use the NFC to unlock it, you have to first squeeze the lock together as if you were locking it. This powers the lock on or wakes it up and you can then unlock it. When unlocking with the NFC the lock doesn't fall freely but stays in place and takes intentional effort to physically unlock it. It's not difficult and I like this feature. I haven't tried this yet but it appears if you unlock with the NFC but don't physically unlock, the lock is still in place and will return to the locked mode. For instance you accidentally hit the unlock button putting your phone away or you use your NFC to unlock it then get side tracked, the lock is still in place and will re-engage after a set amount of time. The fob that came with the lock did not work out of the box, as I understood it would. It is possible it must be programmed as well. The instructions could be clearer, they have some specific and concise instructions but some items could be explained in better detail i.e. allowing permissions to other devices. If you plan to use it for convenience with a single device you probably won't have any issues at all. The directions do say to fully charge the lock prior to setup. A regular USB micro connection is provided for charging and has what appears to be a fairly durable and secure fitting position rubber weather covering. Since this piece will not be manipulated except during charging, it appears it may hold up over time.
