It is very easy to fold & unfold, which gives you a couple choices for size & shape of your play area. The panels do not separate. Fully unfolded, it is 5'10" x 6'5," which works great for our 6-month-old-roly-poly-guy. It does have what I'd call a tolerable level of squeaking noise against skin. We've only had it for two weeks at this point, but no signs of tearing or damage yet. It is easy to clean. The kid loves it.You can pay 3-5x as much for certain name-brand play mats, but this one is odorless, and it suits our purposes well. I was having such a hard time finding a non-expensive but quality mat for my baby. She is learning to sit up so she’s already had some falls, the cushion on this mat is perfect. The design is not to bright colored or annoying, easy to fold and store when we are not using it. I agree with some buyers, the material seems like it will tear easily, however, I have kept a no shoes and no pets rule. It has maintained very well so far, we’ve been using it for almost a month. It’s a perfect size large enough for the baby to move around and play. It is a thick styrofoam material so it gives enough cushion but if you have dogs do not let them walk on it their nails will pierce it. It’s pretty easy to wipe down but it’s t has groves so it does get stuck in them and make it a little harder to clean.
