Review: If there is one item that could be better it is the close proximity of the two CPU ... - I have been running the ASUS Z10PE-D8 motherboard for a little while now and I am very impressed with its performance and quality. Initially, I was reluctant to try this MB because of the many negative reviews that were posted. After carefully researching which included some discussions with ASUS Technical support, I finally decided to try-out the Z10PE-D8 board. This board works flawlessly! There was not a single issue in the build and start-up. Final System Specs: =================== - ASUS Z10PE-D8 (NOTE: This is not the WS board) - Crucial 128GB (4x32GB) DDR4 RAM. NOTE: I also used the Crucial 64GB (4x16GB) but wanted more memory. - 2x Xeon E5-2630v3 8-Core 2.40 GHz processors - Existing + some new WD Red 4TB drives - 2x Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Coolers - Thermaltake Core X9 Black E-ATX case - Sentry 1000w 80 Plus Bronze Modular Power Sypply Details: ======== After running a number of separate systems (two i7 servers for VMs, one i5 server operating as NAS controlling 32TB of storage, among a few other 1U systems for firewall, etc), I decided it was time to consolidate them. Consolidating meant reducing footprint (3x 2U boxes, 2x 1U and 1x Tower that housed the 32TB of storage) into hopefully one slightly larger single system but overall smaller and physically easier to manage. An additional reason for moving away from individual 2U and 1U systems was noise reduction. The smaller area of fans that are used in those systems inherently require them to operate a higher speeds which gets quite noisy. For this to be successful, the heart of the solution would require a motherboard that could handle the memory and CPU cores that would deliver equivalent overall performance. Additionally, I do not need audio (this is a server that hosts systems), and I do not do gaming ... therefore no need for large graphics boards. The on-board graphics is more than adequate. On this system, I run ESXi 6, have VTx Hyperthreading enabled which provides 32 hyper-threaded cores. The system typically runs 12-15 VMs concurrently and CPU temperatures range from 42-62 degrees C depending on workload. Depending on the demand of the VMs, an additional 5-10 VMs can be running. The system has not had a single issue, did not require any BIOS upgrades or changes, did not require any special drivers for ESXi 6 (I also use OpenSUSE heavily and tested with no issues). It is also virtually impossible to hear the fans on the system. The system has 2x CPU Fans, 2 Case fans (came with X9) and 2 added fans for the 9 Hard Drives. If there is one item that could be better it is the close proximity of the two CPU sockets which makes the EVO 212 fan installation a little more challenging. This however did not prevent the installation nor has it impacted the performance of the system. This also did not justify knocking-off a star. For those that would like to use even larger fan assemblies, it may be better to consider the Z10PE-D8 WS which is a slightly larger MB and has the two CPU sockets a bit more offset. Liquid cooling systems will not have any issues. I do not believe in liquid cooling an on this build, the EVO coolers work perfectly. Overall, the ASUS Z10PD-D8 an excellent dual CPU server board! I highly recommend it!
Review: Good, cost effective Dual CPU Server board in ATX. - Hi, Actually I am new to Assemble a Server system. I am using this mother board past 1 month. Till date it is good. Main reason to buy this board is, it is ATX form factor, still little bit larger in size few mm. Do not confuse whether its ATX. Its ATX board only no doubt about it. Still buy a ATX cabinet which is having Flat surface. I am unable to fit this in Cooler master N400. Finally settled with Aero cool 1000 which is best Case for this mother board. Intel Xeon E5 2620 V4. Dual CPU. Samsung 32x4 - 128 GB Ram. Windows 10 Pro Take care of following this. Buy a Good Cabinet case. As this is a Dual CPU board, buy a Power supply unit with 2 x 8 pin CPU sockets, default power unit has only one. I bought Cougar CMX 700 Watts. First time the board may not produce display, do not worry try using Restart button once. Then its perfect. You have to upgrade the BIOS. Initially for me it showed only one CPU. Cons: No Manual, Not even a single paper. Mother board box was generic not sure whether the supplier or the manufacturer given that box. Even a ASUS soundcard has so many colorful manual with the model name printed in the box. A server board cost more than 300$ does not even have the model name anywhere.

I have been running the ASUS Z10PE-D8 motherboard for a little while now and I am very impressed with its performance and quality. Initially, I was reluctant to try this MB because of the many negative reviews that were posted. After carefully researching which included some discussions with ASUS Technical support, I finally decided to try-out the Z10PE-D8 board. This board works flawlessly! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works perfectly (second unit bought, first one defective), very powerful and comprehensive board.

The first Z10PA-D8 I bought ended up having one or two DIMM slots that were defective. Incredibly frustrating. So I bought it again. NOW IT WORKS GREAT. PROS: Well built. Great form factor and size. Smaller than the board its replacing. Fits just fine inside a normal tower case. A plethora of BIOS options and configurations. Updated drivers (ASUS is great in that regard). CONS: I'm hoping the defective board isn't a sign of things to come. No UEFI BIOS, a bit intuitive. Several physical jumpers to configure which was delightfully "retro" but also a bit antiquated. Overall the system is running perfectly.
