I had smoke smell in my RV. So I placed 4 bags in my RV and bingo, within 2 days all the smoke smell was gone. No more smell. I highly recommend these Bamboo Charcoal Bags. **Q: This looks like charcoal from the grill. Can I literally grind up chunks of Kingsford and get the same result?** A: Technically, yes. But, regular charcoal won't be as effective as the activated charcoal in these bags. Activated charcoal is produced at higher temperatures than regular charcoal which makes it much more porous. Activated charcoal is more effective at absorbing and filtering bad odors and air particles. **Q: will they work to absord musty and moldy basement odors?** A: I would start with getting some DampRid bags and hanging them all around. The bags are moisture absorbers, and they have a nice smell. These air purifying bags will help eliminate odor, but not deal with moisture.
