**Q: Do the pencil shavings come out the opening if you put this in a backpack without emptying it first? I'm tired of cleaning messy backpacks. Thanks!**
A: The top is unlikely to come free, and it traps the shavings more than enough to keep your backpack shavings free. But I'd never trust it to completely trap all the graphite dust, which could contaminate new bundles of counterfeit bills or other paper you needed to keep pristine. It would probably be ok if you just carried around a severed head.

**Q: Where are they made?**
A: Staedtler is a German drafting supply company. They have had the highest quality precision products forever. I used these in college 25 years ago and just ordered two more for my kids to use. I'm a graphic artist, their mechanical pencils and other items such as compasses and calipers are the best quality you will find. I have items from my dad he used in college in the 50's made by Staedtler my son is now using in school. The best barnone!

**Q: Is this one sharpener or two?  There is an identical item on Amazon for 3.91, but it says in the title "1 item" and this title says "sharpeners."**
A: I selected the 2 pack, but received two different types of sharpeners. 1 was the metal product shown in the picture and the other was a plastic snap on lid.

**Q: Will this work on the larger primary pencils?**
A: No, nor will it work with Dixon's Tri-Conderoga's or similar triangular pencils.

This pencil sharpener is excellent. It makes your pencils very sharp and is large enough to store the pencil shavings yet small enough to be easily portable. It’s easy to open and clean. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolute Best Manual Sharpener

I have bought this sharpener twice because it is my absolute favorite. I typically buy electrical sharpeners because I normally don't have much luck with the manual ones. I have tried cheap ones meant for school kids to expensive ones meant for high end colored pencils, and none of them could sharpen to a perfectly sharp point without breaking the lead in the process. Now this one...I can get incredibly sharp points on all my pencils, including colored pencils and watercolors. The key is to sharpen to the point where you don't break off the tip the first time you try to write with it. For softer leads, like watercolor, I tend to under-sharpen but it's still very sharp. Also, it doesn't take many turns at all to get a sharp point. Much less than you would expect. Once a pencil has a point, I usually only have to turn it once or twice in the sharpener to bring it back to a perfectly sharp point. I was so happy with how it sharpened my pencils that I ended up sharpening a whole pack of them at once. I've had my first one for probably a year now and it's in constant use and still as perfect as when I first bought it. Pros: - Perfectly sharp point on every single kind of pencil - Easy to use and turn pencils while sharpening - One or two turns is all it takes to get a dull pencil sharp - Sharpener can hold quite a few shavings before needing to be empties Cons - Pencil can be sharpened to a very fine point and may break when used to write (this is more of a pay attention and don't go past a certain point that you know your lead will surely break) - Somewhat pricey for a single sharpener (but since it works every single time unlike cheaper manual sharpeners...definitely worth the cost!)
