## Description

This Spears 867-SR series schedule 80 PVC clamp-on saddle has a reinforced female NPT threaded outlet for connecting to pipes or fittings with male NPT threaded ends, and is suitable for adding a 90-degree branch to a pipe. The stainless steel reinforcement increases the life of the outlet, and the National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads create a tighter seal than straight threads. The saddle is made of gray PVC (polyvinyl chloride) for chemical and corrosion resistance, high strength, and less weight than metal. It has an EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) seal for resistance to oil, water, and some solvents, and is compatible with all types of pipe with an Iron Pipe Size (IPS) outside diameter (OD). The saddle has a maximum pressure rating of 235 pounds per square inch (psi) at up to 4" IPS, 200 psi at 6" IPS, and 150 psi at 8 to 12" IPS. It comes with zinc-plated steel hardware for secure mounting to a pipe. This PVC clamp-on saddle is suitable for adding a 90-degree branch to pipes for chemical processing, industrial plating, chilled water distribution, deionized water lines, and chemical drainage and wastewater treatment systems.Pipe fittings are components used for connecting, terminating, controlling flow, and changing the direction of piping in many different industries. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this made in 1 1/2 inch or is the smallest 2 inch?**
A: I have not used the stainless steal reinforced fittings yet. I am sure it is made in 1 1/2''. Go to Sears web sight to be sure.

**Q: Does it come with the o ring?**
A: O ring comes for around top seal.

**Q: These clamps ( 4x2) requires also the use of pvc cement?**
A: My saddle was 2x3/4.  The saddle itself seals with an o-ring.  The 3/4 is female threads. I used a metal nipple between the saddle and cutoff. Anytime I connect metal threads to PVC threads I use cleaner and glue on the PVC threads and screw the metal threads into the PVC threads by hand only.  You must work fast once you apply the glue. I retired from a city water dept and we all used this method. You can still take it apart if you need to. The glue just softens the pvc threads so they conform to the metal threads.  If your 2 inch part is solvent weld, then it is a glue fitting.

Have used multiple sizes of these saddle clamps and they are easy to install and work without leaks as long as you use a non expanding thread sealant (LA-CO Plasto Joint Stik is current favorite). Can't ask for more from threaded PVC connections.
