The contemplations that often go with the imagery exercises are sometimes inexplicable, but as invocations the metaphorical right brain seems to understand them perfectly. And there is enough material that you can practice something different everytime and then every now and then you will come across an exercise that seems to demand repitition. Working with this kind of material can therefore also be an exercise in intuition and paying attention to your self at a deeper level that you might normally. Mental imagery practiced in relatively short bursts,as prescribed here, is a somewhat unique approach to the subject. Practiced mindfully the practitioner realizes fairly quickly that consciousness can be shifted quite dramatically in mere moments. Over time, consciousness can be rebuilt in the same way. A nice touch is that there are imagery exercises designed to evoke the spirit of many different traditions, as well as aid healing of mind and body. The book's content is therefore universal in its appeal. There are also teachings embedded in the book that reveal an approach to everyday life that should appeal to anyone wishing to deepen their relationship to the unseen world of spirit, a world I might add, that pokes through into awareness more and more when you practice this type of meditation. Readers of reviews often demand examples.
