You get a meat thermometer and a deep frying thermometer. They both work well. The meat thermometer is a little hard to read the dial. I had to put my glasses on and I used a flashlight to illuminate the dial so I could read it. The deep frying thermometer stays cool enough to touch. The meat thermometer probably is as hot as the temperature you're cooking at, so I would use a pot holder on that.
