Nice material. Arrived promptly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (mostly) Tough pants with good freedom of movement. Style...? *by R***. on December 29, 2023* Good pants -- I wish they came in more sizes! If the WxL combinations available don't work for you, you're out of luck. Thankfully, these are roomier pants and come with built-in waist cinches, so they are more forgiving than typical pants and sizes.Had problems over the years with the fasteners -- button, zipper, and ankle ties.WAISTBAND & CINCHESThe waist cinches can pinch-hit as a belt, but they are best at just slightly modifying the waist size. I still recommend using a belt, as the waistband, although strong, does not have much body to it. Without a belt, it can wrinkle and bunch up.APPEARANCEIn the darker colors, these pants have a utility or "tactical" appearance, but can be worn casually, perhaps even as part of an intentional outfit. I worry that on the lighter colors, the seams of the unusual seat would be too visible for comfort in casual settings. Why? The seat of the pants is a separate piece of cloth that extends partway down the inner thighs, allowing for greater flexibility than on standard pants. The seam is visible from behind, though, forming an oval on the upper thighs and lower buttocks. (You can see it in the listing photos.) I have only once had someone comment on this feature.CARGO POCKETSThey're there. It's difficult to put things in or take them out without undoing the tightly-sewn buttons, which is inconvenient. The upside is that they are moderately secure pockets.CUFF TIESThe pant cuffs have ribbon ties of the same color sewn within them. They do not stay tied very well, and need to be retied every few days. They are useful, however, if you need to cinch the pants around your ankle or boots, or even lift the pant cuffs up to the knee for wading barefoot. **Make sure to tie ribbons before washing pants, or the washer may snag and destroy the tie or the cuff.** I believe this happened to one of my cuff ties. I chose to the cut the other off rather than have just one tie remaining.DURABILITYAfter several years of frequent wear, the pants show wear.The cuffs have started to wear out, the two layers of fabric splitting at the bottom. Perhaps the cuffs were dragging on the ground some of the time, or perhaps the cuff ties getting snagged did it; I don't know.The button came off, but anyone can resew a button (yes, you!). I believe the cargo pocket buttons are the same size, so even if you lose the main button, you should be able to match the color with a pocket button. The cargo pockets have double flaps, so the (missing) buttons are not visible.The zipper eventually broke (after years, note). That was a disappointment, and the reason I'm removing a star (-1 STAR): The zipper needs to be rock-solid on pants otherwise so rugged. While the zipper can be replaced, if you can't do it yourself it may not be worth the cost compared to new pants.
