What makes this unique is the open end is 12 point, with a special plate size like a 6 point so the fasteners will not pass though the open end space. They were the first to mass market with something close in design to standard combination wrench. I have accepted their design and build as par for the course. I lost a 10mm. A single 10mm from the gear wrench people was almost as much as this one. I have seen the Wera brand on Amazon and the unusual shape always caught my eye....so I tried one. The ratchet portion of this wrench is butter smooth and the feel of the satin finish is quite nice. The open end is an unusual design but that isn't a bad thing.....in fact the design seems to be a good idea but not the same as traditional open end.
