If she had been using our knives she would have sliced her hand/fingers open...or possibly even slice them OFF!! These knives might make a mark when they are brought down on a hand/finger....but they have never broken through the skin!! We have used them so many times and every time we get them out I am so happy that I took a chance and purchased them! Now my children can have free reign of the kitchen and I don't ever have to worry about trips to the ER!! They also use them when we eat things like steak so they can now cut their OWN meat! I work as a professional chef and my kids see me cook all the time. They wanted to help me out in the kitchen more and learn some knife skills. I wanted to make sure they had something not too sharp to practice with. These were perfect. Only complaint is there's only so much you can cut with these as they arent very sharp and are very thick. It can cut apples and bread but not eith precision. The cuts are very jagged and not so pretty to make a presentation with. I knew that purchasing these that the knives weren't going to be the best and cut perfectly sonthat didnt bother me too much.
