They're handy for so many things. The large ones are especially great for organizing my garden hoses. They're super durable and seemingly infinitely reusable. Review: x1000 Better than Velcro Straps!!! - There's an abundance of incredibly long, nasty, gross but perfectly functional and (theoretically) useful extension cords in the garage that the guys in my house refuse to part with. I finally discovered a method to store them vertically (Elfa Easy Hang Tracks with Accessory Hooks- LOVE LOVE LOVE); however, there was the enduring issue of keeping them shaped in a way that makes them "hangable." (Both in terms of function and my obsessive need to make them appear pretty.) I tried multiple methods, including assorted ropes, wires, and Velcro straps (I do NOT recommend these for multiple reasons) until I stumbled across silicone ties. How many do I get for $16.55?** A: Hi Elizabeth! The package that I received had 12 total gear ties (4 yellow, 4 orange, and 4 black). Sounds like Amazon needs to correct their description. **Q: how thick is the twist tie?** A: I measured the 32" long Gear Tie at 6.6mm or 0.26" in diameter/cross section/thickness. I only have the longer lengths and they are all this same thickness. I imagine the 3" would be also. The Nite Ize website states the 3" long Gear Ties have a diameter of 6.2mm or 0.24". My measurement is close to their specs. **Q: Can this product hold similar to a zip tie? I would like to use the product to hold a lightweight deer fence to a post; currently use zip ties.** A: Iā€™d stick with zip ties for a more permanent/stable hold. They hold well but not sure quite right for that application. Fencing might cut wear through the rubber coating over time as well. Not sure how it would fare outside in the elements either. Iā€™d use some steel wire for what you are doing and twist it with pliers for a more sturdy hold. Hope this helps. I'm obsessed with organization, and I use these around the home and my home office. I've tried everything and I have to admit the Velcro ones annoy the crap out of me. I eventually ended up using the black zip cable ties for a long time, but they would annoy my husband because he likes to move our electronic things and they always got in the way. So he'd cut them. I'd replace them. He'd cut them. I'd replace them. Vicious cycle, let me tell you. So when I stumbled on these ties, I was curious how well they would work. And they are incredible. Definitely worth the price. I'll update this review when I actually have one break or "go bad" on me--but I've been using them for about 6 months now, and zero problems no matter how much I reuse/refold them. PROS - I love how they are reusable. As I mentioned, we constantly take them off and put them back on--or move them to new cords and they still work like new. - I'm in the process of moving, and these helped immensely when I had to throw all my cords in a box. I tied them with the cable and then labeled them with a label. - These are great with storage: I have so many cables for home and my work that are often just stored until I need them. They keep my storage box full of cables neat and organized (I've attached cute labels to make sure I always remember what every cable is), and make it quick and convenient when I need to grab a cable and throw it in my backpack to go. - I've loved taking these on travel. Whether I use an electronic tote bag or a plastic baggie (depending on the length of my trip), these have been super convenient from keeping my cords turning into a jumbled mess.
