Since I have very fine hair that has been thinning, my mother asked one of her friends what she used in her hair (WEN), which looks so healthy. My mother ordered the introductory kit and I decided to try a bottle from Amazon. At first, I followed instructions on the bottle and used about 16 pumps for my medium-length hair, but it felt too heavy and greasy. I have cut way back to about 4 pumps and have had better success.My husband and mother both said that my hair looks thicker, and I can definitely feel the difference! I am surprised about the other reviews regarding women sadly losing their hair because with me, it is just the opposite! It does not make both my scalp and my mother's scalp itch, and I love how easy it is to comb (there are no tangles when it is wet, and there are very few strands of hair on my comb). My strawberry-blonde hair looks much healthier, softer, and shinier. For one year, I had used another shampoo & conditioner that starts with an "R" on Amazon that claimed to thicken your hair, and WEN beat this one hands down!I am just now running out of the one 16-oz bottle I started using at the end of January, and will try the Sweet Almond Mint bottle I am buying from one of my mother's club kits. The only negative thing about it is if I do not wash my hair every day, it starts to looks a little greasy, though. However, since it has improved my hair so much, I want to continue using it. (One works for a well-known Apothecary and knows quality natural products). Unfortunately, when I used this product I lost quite a bit of hair and my hair appeared dull. Each time I cleansed my hair I lost 3x more hair than I normally do in the shower. I have thin and extremely fine hair that can break easily. That being said, I take very good care of my hair and it was very healthy looking when I decided to try Wen. I only need to wash my hair twice per week, so since my scalp is not oily, I chose the Lavender and not the Cucumber. I thought the lavender would also help make my hair more full since the lavender also claims to thicken and add volume. I went to Chaz Dean's website and watched the instructional video on how to properly use the cleansing conditioner. I followed these instructions very carefully in the shower and did not see any improvement in my hair. I still tried to wash twice per week, but if I did not heat style my hair I found that I had to cleanse three times per week. Before using this product I was able to wash my hair twice per week. Before using this my hair was silky, full, had shine, and had minimal split ends. I was using Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner. Before I ordered, I spent a bit of time reading the reviews because most were positive but the negative comments were very passionate so I was a little nervous. My shipment arrived on Monday so I just started using this week (2012-09-12). So far the results are wonderful. Today alone I received two (unsolicited) compliments on my hair. One was from a woman at my office who asked me if I had gotten a "Sex & The City haircut" ha ha ha.1) The smell of the Lavender is wonderful, neither heavy nor too sweet, it's just right,2) My scalp felt WONDERFUL, it feels clean and free of any build up,3) My hair looks/feels soft and it is so shiny! That's my favourite; just the other day I was envying the shine in my 4 yr old daughter's hair. The shampoo left my hair weightless, clean and shiny. Because I knew it wouldn't foam it didn't feel strange (some reviewers have commented on that),5) Make sure to read the instructions and follow them carefully.
