As is often the case, the instructions could be better. As far as I can see, there is nothing to say how to change to the 3 pin adaptor (it comes with a 2 pin one). There are arrows to show which direction to twist it off but I didn't notice the little button you have to press to release the adaptor and nearly wrenched the adaptor off. Programming is reasonable but I didn't realise at first that when setting the alarm volume, the row of little squares indicate this. It looks fantastic in our country kitchen, is easy to use and most importantly the sound quality and volume are superb for such a compact unit. Finish and design are spot on, controls feel nice and the screen is very easy to read.It's not going to compete with a sound system with its singular 10w speaker, but for low level background/entertaining volumes its crystal clear and can go nice and loud when a favorite track comes on, retaining crisp sound and surprisingly good bass for a small unit.Bluetooth pairing takes around 5 seconds and hasn't caused any issues yet - this will depend somewhat on what you're using to stream from, but range seems excellent (iPhone 7+); I was in the loft the other day, still happily streaming to Monty in the kitchen.If you're looking for a kitchen/diner radio that fits in with a wide range of styles and can hold its own in the sound quality department - Monty is what you're looking for. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value but user interface could be more elegant and there are no tone (bass/treble) controls *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 14 December 2021* Bought to sit on tall refrigerator in kitchen, using mains power, and only a small number of pre-set UK stations, mostly used for speech (news, discussions, lectures, etc.) and only occasionally (classical) music, e.g. on Classic FM channel or Radio 3.So far very impressed, except for obscure instructions and clumsy mechanism for switching between pre-set channels after they have been set up. There should be a mode in which channels can be quickly changed using left/right or up/down buttons, instead of having to press '*' every time before switching between pre-set channels.Comments in reviews indicate that many users have not understood the instructions. Having a tiny manual with very terse microscopic text may have saved paper and ink but is *very* user-unfriendly, especially thoughtless for elderly long-sighted users -- other reviewers have also complained. Really thoughtless and pointless.I have not yet tried listening to news while kitchen extractor fan is on, but it should work on maximum volume.So far I am very impressed by the sound that comes from such a small box (smaller than I expected when I ordered it) -- apart from slight irritating "boom" not noticed at first.
