It was put into service from 1976 to 2003 at British Airways and Air France. Only twenty examples of the aircraft were produced, six of which were non-commercial for testing and development. However, it was one of the important drivers of European technological and strategic development, it also had a strong cultural impact. It says material cardboard on product description** A: It’s a (reasonably heavy) metal plane with wood base. I bought this for my Dad well over 5 years ago though, so possible it’s changed. **Q: Metal or not ?** A: Yes **Q: It is any diference from the photo to the real? Is it good material? It is very detailed?** A: This Concorde is the same as it’s photo. Shiny and detailed showing windows and engine markings. Bit smaller and shinier than I would have liked but still a decent size for display. I bought this one for my 92 yr old father (who worked in design of the nose section) whose previous model was damaged when it fell off a cabinet. This was the only model I could find showing the detailing (which was on his old model) of windows, engines etc. Dad was really pleased with it and it’s on display for him to reminisce. **Q: What is the wingspan please** A: About 8 inches. As an air traffic controller, watching aircraft was a bit of a busman's holiday for me, but Concorde was always different; without fail, she made me stop and look. I will never forget the experience and sensation of flying in Concorde and the tinge of sadness when she retired. The comments about the plinth are a little harsh; if you love this aircraft you will see past the plinth and just gaze at a striking representation of a true 20th Century icon and marvel of aeronautical engineering and Anglo-Franco collaboration and design. Looks great in my office at home and is already a talking point with any visitors who spot the model.
