## Description

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The untold stories behind The Office , one of the most iconic television shows of the twenty-first century, told by its creators, writers, and actors When did you last hang out with Jim, Pam, Dwight, Michael, and the rest of Dunder Mifflin? It might have been back in 2013, when the series finale aired . . . or it might have been last night, when you watched three episodes in a row. But either way, long after the show first aired, it’s more popular than ever, and fans have only one problem—what to watch, or read, next. Fortunately, Rolling Stone writer Andy Greene has that answer. In his brand-new oral history, The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s , Greene will take readers behind the scenes of their favorite moments and characters. Greene gives us the true inside story behind the entire show, from its origins on the BBC through its impressive nine-season run in America, with in-depth research and exclusive interviews. Fans will get the inside scoop on key episodes from "The Dundies" to "Threat Level Midnight" and "Goodbye, Michael," including behind-the-scenes details like the battle to keep it on the air when NBC wanted to pull the plug after just six episodes and the failed attempt to bring in James Gandolfini as the new boss after Steve Carell left, spotlighting the incredible, genre-redefining show created by the family-like team, who together took a quirky British import with dicey prospects and turned it into a primetime giant with true historical and cultural significance. Hilarious, heartwarming, and revelatory, The Office gives fans and pop culture buffs a front-row seat to the phenomenal sequence of events that launched The Office into wild popularity, changing the face of television and how we all see our office lives for decades to come.

Review: The book Office fans have been waiting for!! - I have watched the Office since it’s first airing in 2005. I loved it from the start and along with my family, it continues to be our favorite show. We have seen the episodes many times and it is incredible how it holds up. The continued popularity of the show is astounding and extremely well deserved. However, until now,, there has never been a great book written about ‘The Office’. Andy Greene has changed that. Made up almost completely of quotes from interviews conducted with cast, creatives and crew, this fantastic book tells the story of ‘The Office’ in the words of the people that were actually there. This way of presenting the history of the show is both fascinating and authentic. As someone who thought I knew a lot about The Office, there were some revelations in this book that really surprised me. This book is a true gift for any fan of the show. Along with the ‘Office Ladies’ podcast, it provides an insiders view that is extremely entertaining. Sincere thanks to the author and to the people involved with the show who were interviewed for this excellent book! Highly recommended!
Review: Super Show, Super Book - This book is almost perfect for this huge fan of The Office and highly recommended for anybody who loved the show. It contains anecdotes on the show as shared by the actors, producers and writers that are deeply personal, humorous and interesting. The Office is, in my opinion, the best comedy since Seinfeld and Michael Scott is the greatest comedic character in TV history so I had a lot of interest in this book and it did not let me down. I recommended it and lent it to my daughter and she is now enjoying it. If you loved the show you will love the book.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Must read for fans of The Office

Would have liked to see more commentary from the cast. Was a bit heavy on the writers and other crew members, the only reason I dinged it one star. I don’t recall some cast members even directly contributing as far as quoted material goes and many of them it seemed like they had minimal input. Like the actor who played Kevin was only quoted seven times and several of those were pretty short and it mostly seems like Kevin was largely forgotten throughout the book. Devon and some of the warehouse crew who only had bit roles were quoted far more often. And it wasn’t just Kevin with little direct input, Stanley, Erin, Angela, Darryl, Phyllis, and Gabe also didn’t have much contributions. But I guess that is also kind of a reflection of the show. With so many regular characters involved, not everyone got to have any shining moments or had few. And some of them never or rarely got an episode focused on them like happened with Michael, Dwight, Jim, and Pam. But much like the show, once you rope in the guest characters, writers, producers, directors, and other crew and studio members, sometimes some people just don’t get to contribute as much as they are probably capable of contributing. Overall though it was a very enjoyable read and I learned a lot about the people, what was going on behind the scenes, what the day to day life was like on the show, about how decisions were made, and numerous things they talked about doing or considering that never happened that could have really changed the show. A must read for any fan of The Office.
