Brand New Roman Eagle grasping Fasces Pin: This pin was used in ancient Rome where Eagles and the Fasces symbol were displayed as symbols of power and authority. The Fasces derived from the Etruscan civilization, discovered by the Romans in an Etruscan tomb after a Roman invasion. The Fasces features a bundle of rods or sticks tied around an ax. The rods represent unity and the ax represents the strength that comes from unity. The sticks or rods individually can be broken, but together as a whole, they are strong and impenetrable. This symbol was later adopted by Mussolini's Fascist Italy as they sought to recreate the Italia-Roma Empire. Product Dimensions: 3" in width x 2.8" height x 0.6" in-depth. The badge itself is superbly made. It's a heavy and durable metal with all the details, displaying the WW2 Italian eagle, etc. It's bigger than it looks, meaning, if you were to put it on a jacket, it could use up excess unused space without seeming oversized. Perfect for on the front pocket. Best part? It's not expensive, and my order arrived swiftly.Here's the downside, as to why I couldn't rate this higher. The backside isn't what one would assume for a pin. Not like a safety pin where you needle it through sideways and then close it with a lock. It's two prongs, like nails, which stick directly toward you,  both which have detachable rubber heads to cover the tips, which are to be put on underneath your clothing once the "nails" poke through. This may seem uncomfortable for some.  Fortunately, there's a way around this problem. You can attempt to bend the prongs inward, or you can solder or weld a large safety pin to the badge itself, so it can be pinned on the surface of your clothing rather than directly through to your body.

Another example of Roman Culture.  Also bought another for a friend. Received as advertised if not better.  Very detailed and will be proud to wear it as a lapel pin with my Air Corps pin.  Delivered promptly as promised and packaged very well.  I'm looking for more of the same merchandise from this source.
