Go-tcha Evolve

Review: Was supposed to be for the kids...but... - We lost this a year ago before a birthday and found it a while later. The kids stopped playing the game, so I figured I'd use it on my walks with my wife. This thing is both stupid and awesome. Removing the band to use the charger makes me think I'm going to break it every time. I haven't yet, so it's durable, but you have to pull hard and at an angle. Plugging it into the charger is tricky, because it wiggles around, but you figure it out. Using the interface is simple and stupid. Only one side of the screen recognizes touch, so even if the UI shows a checkbox on the other side, only the one side will care if you're touching it. You have to touch and hold to get to the settings page (versus just a touch to turn it on). When on the setting page, you need to tap on each screen to move to the next screen, or press and hold to toggle the setting on or off. This isn't really intuitive at first, and you aren't sure what you are turning on or off. You want vibration off, as it is noisy. You want to turn on spinning the stops, catching pokemon, and catching new pokemon. It's not easy connecting to the phone at first (or obvious), but once you do it once it works well afterwards. Wearing the device is a bit of a pain if you want to cross your arms, and you frequently can start up the settings, and turn off various settings, because the touch sensor is so sensitive. All this sounds like criticism, but the fact is that it is a simple device that gives you the option to spin stops and catch pokemon when you're not paying attention. That's cool and useful. It's allowed me to catch a ton of stuff, and collect a lot of items, when I'd otherwise be distracted. THAT BEING SAID, it's important to know what it actually does. Every few seconds, it will try to do about 3 actions. Whether those actions are successful or not, it doesn't matter. There is a pause, and then a few more actions. I share this because if you're walking through a park, you may not spin every stop and clear every pokemon, because you'll be out of range before it has time to rotate through everything. If there are no pokemon, you'll spin stops easily and quickly. If there are pokemon, it tries to catch those first before the stops, so spinning those can be your job while it tries to catch the pokemon. It ONLY uses your regular balls, and stops trying when you're out. It will try to spin stops, but obviously stops when your bag is full. I've ended up with a ton of blue and black balls and zero red ones...making the device a bit worthless until I restock, but at least it helps with spinning stops (and works if you drive around 25mph) The throws are with basic balls, and basic stats of catching or not. A ton of things run away. You won't catch everything...but that's okay. I open the game and find that I've picked up shinies and tons of stuff I otherwise wouldn't have caught. It only works when the game is running on your phone, but your phone screen can be off and it can be in your pocket. It is important to note that some apps will terminate the game (like Maps or your camera), so if you're using those apps, you may find you aren't catching anything. The device turns off after 30-45 minutes, even if it has power left, so you just have to reconnect it (takes maybe 10 seconds), which is fine to me. This is a good purchase. It's throttled and measured to not be too overpowered...but as long as you understand that, and how it works, it's a great investment if you enjoy the game. If nothing else, it allows you to gain the benefit of being in parks and public areas, when you're not allowed/advised to be looking at your phone and throwing pokeballs...
Review: Loved the Classic, Love this more! - I had the Classic for 8 or so years and it finally died on me. Just wouldn't charge, and the weird USB gadget it had to charge always annoyed me because I would lose it sometimes and be unable to charge it. This, while I'm worried about the USB bit being fragile and snapping one day, I am much happier to charge it directly via USB now. The only issue I've had was one time it told me that my bag was full, when it was not, and I couldn't collect items in POGO for a bit. I reset it, the game, my phone, and charged it again and that fixed whatever the issue was. I'm not a fan of the app being through a browser, as I liked the Gotcha app and that worked perfectly fine. It takes a few tries to get connected to the browser-app, and there's no explanation for if a button being highlighted means the feature is on or off on the gotcha. But I had decided if it didn't need updates, I was fine with changing the options manually (holding down the touch sensor to change what each feature does.)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: So does this item just continually throw balls until it catches the pokemon? Or does it just use one ball per pokemon? Has anyone checked its catch ra**
A: 1 ball per pokemon, if not caught, the pokemon will run away. It wont use great ball and ultra ball. So it stops catching after you run out of red balls. For me catch rate is pretty low haha, not even 50% i feel.

**Q: I bought this item and it stopped connecting to? my phone just had it 1 month and 9 days what can i do**
A: From your phones’s Bluetooth menu, forget the device and re-pair it. From the app, add it like you did the first time and you should be good to go!

**Q: Does this work with Android?**
A: Yes, it works with android devices.

**Q: How long do you have to reconnect it to the pokemon go app?**
A: I'm not sure I understand your question. It only takes a couple of seconds to connect it to the Pokemon Go app and it usually stays connectedfor a few hours at least. Every now then it will error out, but them you can just disconnect and reconnect and everything is fine.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Gadget if you LOVE Pokemon Go!!
*by M***L on February 26, 2020*

The Got-cha is a wonderful device as long as it stays connected to your phone. I had to learn that keeping the Got-cha on my left hand and my phone in my right pocket was sometimes too far for it to stay connected and it would continuously get disconnected. I also found that any battery life on the Got-cha less than 25% basically means that you are going to keep getting disconnected as well. The face of the device is EXTREMELY prone to scratching, so I wouldn't expect it to remain pristine for too long; for me, it was severely scratched after only a 3 uses and I wasn't doing anything overly active. I have purchased 3 devices so far and had to return 1 as the screen went out. I truly enjoy the device and it makes playing Pokemon Go so much more entertaining; if I didn't have the one device go out on me after just two weeks, I would have rated the device a 5 star. I am going to see how the others do and if they hold up, I am going to assume the first one I got that broke was an anomaly.
