Review: Steaming mad - After purchasing this item I actually didn't have anything to iron for a couple of weeks. Needless to say I was excited to let the steam fly since this is a "Turbo Steam" machine. Well, I go to iron. I fill the reservoir, prime it like the troubleshooting guide says in the manual, and put on the highest steam and highest temperature levels. Then... nothing. I press the steam button a couple more times. It spits and sputters like an old man trying to spit out a poppy seed from under his dentures. I give it several more tries. Nothing. I go ahead and iron my shirts. Again, on the highest temperature. I use a spray bottom to put some water on them so I can manually make some steam. Nope. Not even a tiny his or gurgle. It simply doesn't get hot enough. I have requested a return from desertcart who directs it to the seller. Will update how that goes.
Review: Leaks Badly - I ironed a dozen shirts with this iron, some cotton and some silk, to try out this Sunbeam. My old iron is a basic budget model that has served me well for years. It took me a couple of shirts to get used to the new one--slightly different shape, weight, controls--but once I did, I liked it. What I liked: --It's slightly heavier than my old iron, but not so heavy that I mind--it's still pretty light. This allows less pressure on wrinkled material. --It has a larger plate, which covers more material faster. --It comes to a sharp point in the front, which allows me to iron between shirt buttons more easily. --It heats up incredibly quickly. --The water reservoir is large. --It produces a shot of steam horizontally, which can help with stubborn wrinkles, or vertically if you just want to touch up something that's been hanging in a closet and gotten scrunched. (And it's fun to blast some steam.) --It automatically turns itself off in 15 minutes if you leave it upright without moving it, so that if you're called away with a phone call or have to attend to something on the stove, you don't have to worry that the hot iron is sitting there indefinitely. If you leave the iron horizontal, it shuts itself off in 30 seconds. That won't prevent it from ruining your clothes or your carpet, but it may prevent a fire. --The inlet for water has a cover, so it won't dribble out. Although at one reviewer noted water leakage, I haven't had any problem. --I found it quite stable when sitting vertically. My ironing board is a little rickety and I've had irons topple over. I've had no problem with this one. What I didn't like: --It's a little difficult to see how much water is left in the tank because the plastic is a dark blue. --The mister works fine, but the spray covers about a foot in front of the iron. This may be an advantage to some, but I'd prefer a little more control. --The cord is nice and long, but attaches at only one point, so it's less convenient than if it could be attached to the opposite side to avoid having the cord get in the way. (I don't know how many irons allow this, but if they do, I'd sure like that.) So on the whole, I found it does a very good job and recommend it. UPDATE: After a year or two of very light use it started leaking badly. Useless as a steam iron.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Decent Iron Set, Does The Job, Some Drawbacks Though
*by C***L on November 13, 2013*

I have had a variety of irons over the years and one of the things that I like is the ability to control what I am doing quickly and easily without a lot of fanfare. I have worked with Rowenta, GE, and Braun irons, all of different types. This Iron set is nice. It covers a variety of needs and situations, and does a decent job. IRON WHAT I LIKE -This iron is heavy. That means that it presses out wrinkles without having to exert a lot of pressure. -Long cord -incremental dial- allows for slight changes in temperature -steam shot- okay to use on vertical places as well as stubborn wrinkles WHAT I DON'T LIKE - This iron is heavy. It is a bit awkward to use and sometimes I found myself struggling a little bit with it. I also found that it works best when heating up on my sewing table- as it did not seem to do well standing on my ironing board. -The water fill button is obnoxious. It is a flap and I could not see a way to open it more than halfway. That makes it difficult to fill from some faucets since it uses tap water. -The labeling is WAY too tiny. There is no chart on the iron to help determine what fabrics work with what settings. I prefer the chart on the iron as it helps more. This writing is SO tiny that anyone who needs reading glasses will not be able to read this without them at all. -The iron has to be emptied after every use. I am used to irons that don't have to be emptied with each use (except long term, of course). -The mist setting does nothing. I would prefer to have a spray on the iron instead to spray water ahead of the iron. -Try as I might I can not seem to use this iron without it dripping water where I set it to rest. I have tried to completely start with a dry iron (after filling) on the outside and check everything carefully to see that there is no leaking. Then when I use it, I end up with patches of water on fabric (no matter what temp or steam setting) and then puddles of water when I pick up the iron from its resting place. That is annoying and I am not sure if it is the condensation from steam or leakage, but I have never had an iron do that in all of the years I have owned them. OTHER COMMENTS This iron works well taking out wrinkles. It did not stick to items, and worked smoothly. I tried the cleaning feature but since I have not had the iron long enough to build up anything sufficient to warrant a cleaning, it did not seem to do much. The cord on this iron is quite heavy so sometimes it catches on the ironing board. That is not a huge deal but it is more noticeable than on my other irons so I thought I would mention it. I tried the features of auto shut off and when the iron is laying on its side, it does shut off in 30 seconds, but by then, a lot of water had leaked out and drained all over the board and dribbled onto the floor as well. Now that I would let my iron have that happen if I could at all help it, but with the water leakage, it was a concern. TOUCH UP IRON This touch up iron is like a triangular flat iron that you do hair with. It does have the flat area at a slight angle from the handles making it a tiny bit easier to use on clothing. This iron comes with a heat resistant case, a pocket for lint rollers (comes with 2) and a spray bottle. Although this is a handy item to use on collars and pockets, it does not do well on flat areas of fabric that are wrinkled. I also found that the handle gets very hot up near the area where I want to grab it, and that makes it more difficult to use as the pressure point to close the iron is right there for my hands. For travel it is decent and better than nothing, however. FINAL COMMENTS This is a nice ironing set and does a decent job, but I was not WOWed by it. It does what it is supposed to do, but I think that this should have been designed a bit better with features more user friendly- especially with such tiny writing on the dial. I am giving this three stars because it has a few features that I feel need improvement. If you need a plain solid iron and you can see really tiny writing and lift weights, then this would probably be a five star for you!
