My battery died. Am I just supposed to throw it away now? It was a lot of money.** A: There is no battery compartment on the unit. The Boogie Board 8.5 is supposed to be good for 50,000 resets. That is a lot of resets. It is a throw away unit **Q: Is there a limit to how many times it can be erased, then rendering it useless at that point?** A: Yes, there is a limit and while 50,000 seems like a lot of uses my 2 toddlers got a hold of ours and played with it for about 2 weeks on and off in the car and such and that was that! So, probably OK for the occasional use by an adult or mature child, but don’t let a toddler get a hold of it! It is very useful as a short note "paper" eg someone giving a 9 or 12 figit number that u cannot remember & u need to jot it down.Things that could be better1. The writing pen could have a narrower tip so the words don't have to be too big.2. The pen holder is flimsy and moves.
