Review: Tried multiple options - by far the best - Since I have been quite of bit of hands-on data as well as report production and design work for the last few months, I recently tried several options for a portable monitor to use with my 14 Inch MacBook Pro. My requirements when I started were: light weight, single USB C/Thunderbolt (eg no separate power needed), and for it to be approximately the same size as the MacBook at least height-wise. With my first purchase (and return) I quickly found out that despite the many options all touting the same specs, I had to add a few requirements. Shape (needed it to be 14 wide), built-in ability to stand on its own vs a floppy cover solution, and most importantly, reasonably accurate color. Also, pass-through power is a very nice-to-have so that there's only one USB C Thunderbolt cable connected to the Mac and power can connect to the monitor and pass back through to the Mac through the one Thunderbolt cable. This monitor met all the requirements above. The color is -very- accurate. A side-by-side comparison to the other portables was instantly clear. No need to run through lots of tests (although I did try extensively to adjust them. The ThinkVision worked perfectly out of the box. Another really nice feature is the way they implemented the "kickstand". It's not really a kickstand but more of a fold-out base. The connections are built in to that which offset them from the edge of the screen unlike all the others, which means you can stand it up right against the Mac even with cables plugged into both sides. I -thought- I was going to have to trade off weight when comparing choices, but I am certain this is the same and possibly lighter than the Arzopa, my second choice. I don't have a precise scale to verify this. However I did a blind "place one in my hand" test and picked the lighter as the ThinkVision. If I can get my hands on a scale while I still have these I will update. Be aware that the specs claim the others are all lighter than the ThinkVision, which again I doubt. In any case, it is negligible either way. Lastly, as a nice feature, it comes with a felt sleeve. This is perfect for my bike bag and backpack to protect against scratches or worse. The one trade-off that is real is the price. This is approximately 90ish dollars more than several other appealing-looking options currently. Make no mistake, this monitor is worth that and more if you are planning to use it often at all. Personally I will always pay for true quality if a piece of equipment is clearly better than the rest. If you are a Mac user you probably feel the same. This monitor is a worthy companion for a road warrior, anyone who moves their work spot often, or just wants to keep their work space flexible.
Review: Nice thin portable screen for traveling. - I've owned this for 5 years and I always take it with me when traveling since it fits right next to my laptop in my carry on backpack. It works great as a 2nd screen for my laptop when doing work or I use a usb-c dock with the Steam Deck to play games on it using a mouse and keyboard. It's a bit expensive, however I had to return cheaper screens because they were loud, more bulky, and the display didn't look as good. The quality and colors look good, it looks similar quality and size to the IPS display on my Dell XPS 13. It comes in a nice soft case. It held up well and still looks like new. The one drawback is that you can't plugin an HDMI/DisplayPort cable. This limits the usefulness of it in some cases. I'd only recommend getting it if you need a 2nd screen for your laptop or a handheld device that has usb-c display output. You can get a similar quality and slightly larger screen, that isn't portable, for around $100-120.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be attached to the top of my Thinkpad laptop screen?**
A: This problem has already been solved. There are a handful of companies that offer a product that will let you attach 1 or two small monitors to the back of a laptop screen (with magnets to remove)

Here is one brand... "SideTrak"
https://www.amazon.com/stores/SideTrak/page/BB06159F-1F7B-43CE-B6E1-CB901C43BE38?ref_=ast_bln

I would love to use this but my company "locks down" third party drivers or services. (If one of these "just works" with Windows 10 drivers I might get it.

**Q: I have two usb-c ports on my lenovo t490, is it possible to hook 2 of the m14 monitors to my laptop and create a 3 monitor setup?**
A: yes, you can. The good thing is that it has pass through capabilities, meaning that if you connect your power brick directly to one of the displays, it will pass energy to your T490. In this way, you can use both usb-c on you laptop for each display and still getting energy to your computer. I even tested this using an external battery without issues.

**Q: Will this work with my own (short type-c pd cable) type-c cable or i have to use the one comes up with the monitor? again question is only about cable**
A: The cable that comes with is a Thunderbolt C cable. A regular usb C cable may not be able to handle the data load for video. The included cable is fairly short and quite stiff but works well.

**Q: Is anyone using an external usb-c pd battery to power this? i know my laptop will power it by itself but i am looking to extend runtime away from ac**
A: It has two USB C ports with the ability to do pass through power. I use the power adapter on one port, then a cable to connect to laptop. This lets me power both off of one power adapter.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice screen for travel
*by T***' on February 16, 2022*

I purchased this screen for longer international work trips, after reading comparison reviews on various web sites and checking through Amazon reviews and scores. Somehow after working virtually, being "stuck" with only the laptop screen on trips has been a bit of a headache and does not seem to work anymore - one still has to manage multiple documents while writing or editing plus handle meetings on Zoom or Teams. This screen has come with me to Africa and so far is holding up well. It is light and thin, resting between my two laptops in my shoulder bag. The felt carrying sleeve is nice, shielding it from dings / scratches as it goes into the trays for x-ray checks at all the various airports. It connects easily with the USB-C (my laptop has the latest USB-C but not a Thunderbolt cxn) and works as any other second screen to clone or extend my desktop. As many reviews have noted, it is a bright, colorful screen. It works quite well with my Dell Latitude 7490. My giraffe-in-Masai-Mara background is just as bright on the M14 as on the Dell, and with colors matching between the screens. The frame puts the screen even at the same height as my laptop. The stand holds the screen firmly in position but adjusts as needed. All in all, this is a screen that I would recommend.
