## Description

Product description DuraTPE Series 2019 Honda HR-V LX using DuraTPE Coil Spring Buffer The featured buffer installation is on a 2019 Honda HR-V LX which added an extra 1.2 ” of lift. Size A buffers are used on the front coil springs. Size B+ buffers are used on the rear coil springs. Choose the Right Size for Your Coil Spring Preparation For front-installation, make sure vehicle is on a hard (concrete) surface and apply the parking brake. Place blocks under rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Check your vehicle owner’s manual for the proper contact points then jack up each tire to its recommended servicing height. For a safe installation and equal weight distribution, position the jack stands under the contact points corresponding with each wheel. Measure the spring spacing between the coils Once each tire is properly elevated, the coil spring is relaxed at full extension. It is recommended that you remove the wheel for easier installation. Using a damp cloth, clean away all debris on your coil spring before installing this product. (specially in center 3-4 coils) Measure the spring spacing between the coils to determine which product size (A+ .. F) should be selected (See Fig. 1 , “D” for measuring points), please measure center 2-3 spring distance, so to get an average for the spacing distance. Tips Tip1 : choose product H1 = D (or close) (D: Vehicle Lifted Up) Tip2 : if measurement H1 is larger than D, inserting into coil spring may be too difficult. Tip3 : if H1 is smaller than D, inserting is much easier but the buffer’s support is diminished. Recommendations H2 = D for max. support (but may be hard to insert into the coil spring) Choose buffer size D>H2 but D <H1. If D closer to H2 there will be more lift and support ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Product At Rubbershox, we are always looking for ways to improve and enhance our products. Review: Simple fix for soft Acura MDX struts - Our 2002 Acura MDX front struts were replaced at 116K with decent Monroe aftermarket parts. The OEM springs were reused. Around 135K, the struts started to feel softer with more lean in turns and excessive diving during braking. It was easy to bottom out the front end over easy bumps. The strut gas shocks are still fine it's just that the springs have aged so there's a lot more front end motion that doesn't inspire confidence in normal handling. At 153K, I replaced the rear shocks since they were original but this did not make a major improvement in overall handling. I considered replacing the front struts and springs with new parts but there's no guarantee that the new springs would provide a stiffer ride. I'm not excited about spending $600 or more to replace struts only to get minor improvement. After a bit of research, I discovered that RubberShox appeared to be a simple solution worth trying to restore a higher spring rate. The MDX coil gap (vehicle lifted) measures 1.90-2.00 inches so I chose the DuraTPE-A size that has an H2 of 1.85. According to RubberShox and other reviews, H2 should match your coil spacing for optimum performance but the spacers can be very difficult to install when these dimensions are close to each other (do NOT choose H2 greater than your coil spacing since it will be virtually impossible to install). As it turns out, I had no trouble installing the A-size and they were a perfect fit. Yes, it took some effort and WD-40 but if you follow the instructions and work by slowly feeding the spacer into the coil, keeping the upper groove fully engaged and leaving the lower groove to be slowly "popped" over the coil as you go, then it works great. I did not trim the spacer in any way but I did use a wooden handle to provide additional leverage to get the lower spacer groove to "pop" over the coil at various points. Once done, this RubberShox spacer is perfect fit as you can see in the photos. I slowly worked the spacers up towards the top of the strut so that they would be somewhat hidden in the strut tower cavity. The overall lift in the front end is about half an inch and looks like the original OEM height now. The improvement in ride and handling is like having a whole new vehicle! You would think that the ride would be stiff but it's not --bumps are smoother and the chassis feels controlled once again. No more excessive leaning in corners and nose dive during braking is minimal. I would say the car handles as good as or better than when new. Such a simple and economical fix! Try this solution if your springs feel soft or worn out, it's a great product.
Review: Kind of easy to install and make quite a bit differences. - I bought these buffers for my 2018 Mazda CX-5 front and back coil springs. My wife and I were used to drive German cars and enjoyed the handling during turn. I love the look inside out of my CX-5, but I really cannot appreciate the handling especially on the mountain road. I saw these buffer on desertcart and want to give them a try since they are not expensive at all. The installations are quite simple and easy. However, it did require to lift the car to install. Before buying the buffer, I lifted the car to measure edge-to-edge for both front and back coil spring. The best thing is, their website have detail measurement and installation guide. After lifted the car, I just slide the buffer from bottom of the coil spring (larger edge-to-edge space)all the way to the top. At my first tried, it was hard for me to slide the buffer into the spring. I emailed manufacturer and wondered if I got the wrong size buffers. I got emailed back second day and they suggest sprayed WD-40 on buffers and springs before installation. It only took me 30 minutes to install all 4 buffers to front and back coil springs of my SUV. They should put this suggestion into their installation guide. After driving my CX-5 for next 3 weeks, I am totally satisfied with these tiny cheap buffers. I was so happy for the two mountain trips I had, they made the turn so stable and smooth even with my wife and two teenage kids inside the car and they don't feel dizzy like before. These buffers are also doing very good in absorbing the road bump. I love these buffers! Draw back Although these buffers are designed as universal fit, but it is not quite tight fit to different type of the coil spring. The back of my CX-5 is not as tight as the front ones . If you want to buy these buffers, you should make sure the measurement is correct and pick the one as close to your measurement as possible. One little thing, I would like my CX-5 even stiffer. I like the stiffer driving behavior even it will scarify the comfort of absorbing road bump.

**Q: Anyone know the size for the rear or a Ford Maverick?**
A: If someone has the same make, model, year and trim as you, they might be able to tell what they used. Word of caution because they may be ordering them for a different purpose. The different colors reflect capacity and/or stiffness and each color has different coil buffer sizes.

With that being said, you will have to jack up your vehicle and write down measurements and dimensions for your coil springs. Use this information to select the buffer that best matches your springs. Note that the front and rear springs on my vehicle were different so I had to do this for both front and rear springs. This proved to be a great "drill" for me to prepare me for the actual installation of the buffers.

H1 is the vertical space between the coils when they are unloaded with the vehicle jacked up. Coil spring spacing also varies on the position on the springs and may fit better and respond differently on a different position on the coils. I installed mine closer to the top of the front springs as they seemed softer than stiffer in the middle of the coils.

H2 is the loaded coil spacing with the vehicle on the ground. If you select an H2 dimension that is greater than your coils H2 height, the buffers may lift the suspension. If it is equal or less than your coil's H2 dimension, it won't affect the height or change wheel alignment. I went with an H2 height that was less than the spring height so that it wouldn't affect the suspension. I rotated the buffer into the area where it fit best and verified the height of body at each wheel well remained unchanged from before the installation.

Use D1 and D2 to identify the buffer size to match closest to your spring diameter size. The buffer is somewhat flexible and will stay put on your coils once the springs are loaded and secured in place with the provided zip ties.

D3 is the diameter of the coils that will fit within the buffer groove and will also hold the buffer in place. There are some hacks on-line to help with getting the buffers installed. I selected appropriate sizes for the front and rear and used WD-40 to lubricate the buffers and springs making installation much easier. Unless your vehicle is new, the process will be messy so have hand towels or rags handy to clean up the mess.

Save the measurements and sizes for future use to double check the buffers before installing them. Hope this helps. I was very happy with how the buffers reduced the amount of roll and sway without throwing off the suspension and alignment. I later removed the rear buffers because using only the front buffers worked perfectly. If I have to haul heavier loads, I could put the rear buffers back for more stability for the extra weight.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Installed them on the rear springs and added front with AWESOME results! Highly recommended!!
*by L***E on April 8, 2021*

I have a 2019 Honda CRV EX that has a noticeable roll issue. With so many options, I went out on a limb and tried a pair of the red D size buffers for my rear coil springs. They were easy to install and took about one hour as I lifted one side at a time. Initially, it raised both sides by 1 inch. I drove the SUV after I installed them and the rear was noticeably higher and much stiffer. After driving about 2 miles, it seemed that the coils settled into their grooves and the ride was much better and reduced the roll by about 80%. After my test ride, I confirmed that the coils settled and were back to their original height. My ride was not as stiff as it was in the beginning but now that the rear is stiffer, it seems like the front end and steering feels "invisible compared to the rear. My intention was to reduce the roll and these definitely controlled that. For the price, they reduced my roll without great expense and effort. I may consider installing them on the front springs at a later time. Update: 04/24/2021 I was still having some roll with my CRV after installing the Size D buffers and decided to take another chance and ordered the Red size B buffers. They went in easy because I didn't have to remove the front tires. Once they went in, I moved them to the top of the coils and secured them with the supplied Cable ties. After I dropped the front end, both sides were 2 inches higher at 33 1/2 inches. I took the CRV for a spin to test them and the handling and steering was way better with both the front and rear buffers installed. I can feel the road more but I am so happy with the improvements in the handling and feel of the ride. The height at the fenders returned to their original height of 31 1/2 inches when I measured them after the test drive. I highly recommend these Coil Spring Buffers as a solution to roll on turns. Easy to install, great value for the money and resolved the roll problem.
