His previous one was a NVIDIA shield K1. The Shield lasted a long time, but eventually (after many years) the battery started to drain to fast. So the new Teclast M89 pro is up against a tough competitor.Pros's:It's good to hold, not heavy. Much lighter than the NVIDIA. For a small kid that's a big proPlays all the games my kid likes to play (e.g. Minecraft) without issueVery cheapNear stock android experienceCon'sDedicated cover is hard to find (but do-able)Gets a little warm, but not hotSometimes a game has an occasional hickup, but nothing that ruins the gameplayAndroid 7Overall this tablet is very good value for many. I immediately believe you when you say some very expensive tablet is faster, better or whatever. This tablet is perfectly fine for light home/office use, but not much more. I got it for use in the office so I didn't have to take my laptopwith me into meetings, and the battery life is fine for that.The build quality is not great. The tablet suffered a fall from my bedside table onto a carpeted floor. About a foot and a half drop, and the screen popped out of the casing on one side. It popped back in again no problem, but that should give you an idea of the build quality.One thing I've been very pleased with, though, is the screen.
