It works in a similar way to a glue gun but with a much finer nozzle. The speed control works a little counter intuitively although the graphic does make sense, pull the control up for fast and push it down towards the nozzle for slow. You will need it on fast to load then slow to min as soon as the filament appears, Cut of the bit that is hanging out and start to build up your model. You will need to increase the speed slowly until you get it right. I tried to start with something quite small, this was probably a mistake, the pen is not a 3D printer you are not going to get a totally smooth finish but with a bit of practice you will start to have fun.My first effort was a bumble bee a bit fiddly with colour changes etc but my wonder wife thought it was sweet. Then I made a heart , which she also liked.I found that to load you need to turn up the speed a bit or it takes forever, guessing the right time to turn it down and getting the pen in to position to make a start is a good idea. Once you have started you need to turn the speed up a little or successive layers do not stick together very well. Loading and unloading automatically by double clicking it not a bad idea. I think a single press of the unload button will always stop the feed, I need to test that properly. To unload press load once then double press unload to do it automatically. Turn up the speed. Once the filament is released a single press of unload does stop the feed.On reloading a certain amount of the previous colour will be fed. To avoid waste try to plan for this. As with other 3D printing equipment the medium will stick to the base better if it is heated, I have not experimented with this yet but eh makers of the ABS media suggest a heated bed of around 80C, this is very hot so if you try it make sure you do not touch the base.The instructions say only to use the manufacturer's own filament, however I have not found any made by iLifeSmart yet. Its as good as any other 3D pen, just be aware of the current limitation of this type of device. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great fun... but way harder than it looks! *by J***S on 14 May 2017*  I've been waiting for these to become more readily available and affordable for some time. I've never used a 3D pen so couldn't really compare it to anything else, all I can say is that it's not as easy as it looks!You get a nice little kit with this purchase and I believe it to be everything needed to get started.I've found the best temp to use with the supplied plastic is about 210c - this I found out with a quick google search.The pen loads very easily and actually it's just as easy to remove the plastic to change colour.The pen has all the features of the other brands, speed control, temp control and the ability to continually feed or eject the plastic.You get a good selection of colours to start off, I've bought 20 more coils the same as supplied for about £6You don't need a hotbed for this as you can print straight on to plain paper. I've found that actually there are plenty of templates online for printing.Lots of YouTube videos to look at for ideas too. As you can see from the video... I have a lot of learning to do!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3D pen *by J***E on 6 May 2019* Not top of the range but for the price it is good. I have enjoyed using the pen.
