This was almost disasterous when a family member has appendicitus and his temperature was not measuring a fever. Anyhow, this thermometer is very easy to use. You just remove the end, put it in your ear and press the button. It beeps about a second later. The forehead way is really easy also. With the end on, You just run the thermometer across your forehead holding the forehead button down. I took my temperature several times and the result was the same, which is reassuring. The display is a good size. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and didn't waste resources by needing plastic covers for every use *by R***D on Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2016* I'm a RN working in a school with PK-8th grade kids. I needed a thermometer that was accurate, fast, and didn't waste resources by needing plastic covers for every use. Our office has a Welch Allyn 4000 tympanic thermometer that is very accurate but it is too expensive and wasteful to maintain the supply of ear probe covers. I have compared this thermometer to the Welch Allyn on multiple students, at least 2 or 3 per day, over the 2+ weeks we have had it. This thermometer is just as accurate as the Welch Allyn, faster than the Welch Allyn, and doesn't need the ear probe covers (which get really expensive when you take 20ish temps per day). The forehead readings are about 1 degree lower than the tympanic temp (unless they have been running around outside at recess), but that is to be expected and I take that into account when doing my assessment. To clean the ear probe on this thermometer, I just use isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball (much more cost effective and environmentally friendly than $17/box plastic ear probe covers). This has been a GREAT addition to our Health Office. This forehead/ear digital monitor is not either of these! I have to pull out the instructions every time and get strange readings often.
