On the dragon side: the Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Puff the Magic Dragon. On the kitten side: the many iterations of the Lion King/Simba, Hello Kitty, Puss in Boots, and just about every other cutesy meme on the web. To bring these two modern-day obsessions together into the name of an endearing orchid was a stroke of brilliance. What an adorable name for an orchid whose blooms are the very quintessence of cuteness. (It must be the rounded petals.) After all, who wouldn’t want to cuddle up with a purring Dragon Kitten? And speaking of quintessence, did you know the term derives from medieval alchemy meaning purified five times (hence the “quint”) – so you’re getting a 5-fold concentration of cuteness in this charming orchid! Zygos are known for their very fragrant blooms, and many varieties have been bred to produce near-blue lips, including Dragon Kitten, one of whose parents is called Zygopabstia Blue Ribbon (another brilliantly named orchid). Zygos are tremendously easy to grow, hardy, and can handle both warm and cool conditions (but don’t allow to freeze!). They’re perfect for beginners looking to branch out into something new! ## Features - Fragrant blooms that you can smell a mile away Very easy to grow, fast (and forgiving) Blooms with dark violet, almost blue lip Water twice per week, avoid direct sun, fertilize every other week. IMPORTANT NOTE: these plants are NOT IN BUD/BLOOM when shipped. PLEASE look at all the pictures in this listing so you know the condition/size of plant you'll be getting. SD1 size plants are about two years from reaching Blooming Size. SD2 size plants will reach Blooming Size in about 12 - 18 months. ## Images ![Orchid Insanity - Zbst.
