In fact, I have been experimenting with mineral water (not terribly expensive if you stay away from the highly advertised brands, and it tastes great. Or you can use any soda water. It is just CO2 and water, all brands are the same. However, I've been having a hard time finding club soda. There are less expensive options for CO2 cartridges than than SodaStream. Just check the Internet for instructions on Co2 canisters. Nutritionally, soda water has no calories and the Monin brand of cola syrup is made with cane sugar rather than corn syrup...much healthier. My favorite part best part is that I control the amount of cola (or other syrup) I use, and therefore, I determine the calorie content. Carrying that out it comes to 2.5 oz x 8.45 portions in 2 L which= 21.125oz per 2L btl. of sparkling water.In a 750ml btl. of cola syrup which is 25.4 fl. oz that would come out to 2.6 cups of syrup to 2l btl of sparkling water, or just over 2 Β½ cups of syrup.
