Bought them for my first hiking experience. They were generous in the butt/ thigh area and I much needed it. Got a size XL and wear a size 14 in old navy jeans for reference. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Maybe not for Instagram models, but decent value *by V***A on July 31, 2019* I bought these not for hiking especially, but because I needed pants that would be good for travel, that could wash easily in a hotel sink and dry quickly. I didn't want to spend $80 to $90 on fancy "travel pants." These pants might be ok, but I still haven't decided if I'm going to pack them. First of all, the fabric doesn't breathe much, and I got a bit warm just wearing them around the house. I wear a size 16, and while I can get the xl on, they're snug around the hips and belly in a way that's not flattering, so I'd have to wear a longer shirt with them. The waistband is elastic except for the very front, which helps with the fit, but could also be irritating to the skin if worn all day. The pants would look better with a belt, but the belt in the pictures is not included. Also, be aware that the fabric is the kind that's common for these kinds of clothes - the kind that has a very slight sheen and makes noise when you walk.So that's all the bad stuff. But in my search for pants, I also checked out some more expensive brands. Nothing at Eddie Bauer was as nice as these, or fit as fashionably, and it was all much more expensive. Those prAna pants that are on all the Top 10 lists are admittedly very nice, with soft fabric that looks and feels more like regular clothes. But again, there's a huge price difference. If I planned to stay this size forever, and to do a lot of travel and hiking, I'd probably spring for those. But if you're probably not going to wear them a lot, and you're on a budget, these pants are the better choice.Bottom line, these are a good value for the price, as long as you understand what you're buying. They don't look too old ladyish, and they seem pretty well-made. They're just kind of hard to get excited about. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ NIce quality, light weight pants *by A***C on August 25, 2019* I read the reviews on this when I was shopping. Many did mentioned they ran small. I am 5 ft 1/2 in, petite, 120#. Normally wear a size 4 or 6. I am fit with an athletic build, so more stocky in the legs. I thought I'd get by with the small. The sm did fit, but was slightly snug in the butt. Figured for hiking, I best have more room to move, so I did return the sm for a medium. I'm glad I did. the waist and hips feel perfect for being active, yet, they are not excessive and bulky. Still slimming with shirt tucked in or out. The fabric is light weight and breathable. My inseam is about 29, and these have a couple extra inches, but they can be tucked under, and with shoes it will be just fine.
