It actually won favor over "screen time". She is an advanced reader and was able to read a lot of the descriptions, but that didn't deter her 4 year old brother from wanting his own copy. This book is SOFT BACK, which I didn't recall reading, but that didn't stop any of us from enjoying it. While some of the topics are a bit advanced (there's a section on WWII, for example, which got him asking about Adolf Hitler), the book is a keepsake. Thick, glossy pages, wonderful illustrations, and concise, insightful articles, perfect for a younger advanced reader. We liked this book so much, that we usually keep 2-3 copies on hand to give away at birthday parties. We've seen kids to whom we've given the book as a present reading it the next day on the school bus! If that's not a solid endorsement, I don't know what is!
