**Q: I'm need to convert my dtv sat (dvr) component/w audio output to hdmi.  will this adapter support/preserve 5.1 channel surround at the hdmi output ?**
A: I don't believe so, because the audio input is RCA left/right.  So there is no 5.1 input.
