At 4,000 miles I had my new motorcycle towed into the shop when it would not start. While attempting to change the fuel pump, the mechanic discovered one gallon of water in the bottom of my gas tank! This was probably due to purchasing gas in areas where the hurricane had temporarily left four feet of water standing in many areas, including most likely the gas station where I had subsequently purchased fuel.Nevertheless I began using Sentry and discovered it adds one cent per mile to my fuel cost. However it also increases my gas mileage from about 35 miles per gallon to a fairly consistent 40 miles per gallon. The extra five miles per gallon are worth about 25 cents, vs 40 cents Sentry cost per gallon. The 15 cents extra per gallon seems worth it when I recall it cost me $100 to get that gallon of water out of my gas tank, not to mention the inconvenience of having the bike towed. Attempting to syphon the water out of the tank had earlier failed, since the intricately designed bottom of the tank clearly escaped the syphon tube. I also carry a large plastic graduated syringe to accurately measure the 11 milliliters per gallon of recommended Sentry gas additive going into my motorcycle tank. Don't try to get by with less Sentry; it works much better with the recommended amount or more. My Honda dealer stopped carrying it.
