## Overview

The WaterWorker HT-14HB is a 14-gallon pre-charged horizontal well tank featuring a seamless butyl diaphragm and durable steel shell with a high gloss enamel finish. Certified by NSF under ANSI/NSF Std 61, it ensures clean, odor-free water while optimizing pump cycles to save energy and extend pump life. Its compact horizontal design offers superior drawdown capacity and resistance to waterlogging compared to traditional galvanized tanks, making it an efficient, space-conscious choice for modern water systems.

## Description

Product Description The WaterWorker pre-charged tanks utilize a butyl composite diaphragm, which flexes up and down based on water level and air pressure, as the pump fills the tank with water the air above the diaphragm is compressed, increasing the pressure in the tank until the pump cut-off pressure is reached. When water is drawn from the tank, the pressure inside the tank decreases until the pressure switch starts the pump. The amount of usable water for every pump cycles is called drawdown. The greater drawn-down capacity you select, the less your pump cycles saving energy, money, and extending your pump life. Advantages over galvanized well tanks: Pre-charged tanks do not have water-logging problems like the galvanized tanks. The air and water are totally separated using a diaphragm. No external air controls needed. Pre-charged tanks have a much larger draw-down for the same physical size. Larger draw down reduces pump cycles and pump wear, i.e. at 30/50 PSIG range three times the draw-down for pre-charged tanks of the same physical size. Pre-charged Tanks completely empty during each pump cycle. Pre-charged Tanks are much smaller and easier to handle that galvanized well tanks. Pre-charged tanks with a 30/50 Pressure Switch would be one-third the size of a galvanized tank with the same drawdown. Deep Well Jet Pumps could use either a vertical tank or a horizontal tank, depending on space requirements and sizing. Submersible Pump applications would usually use vertical tanks, again based on proper sizing. Shallow Well Jet Pumps could use vertical or horizontal tanks, based on proper sizing. The rule of thumb in sizing is to count the number of fixtures in the home, i.e. sinks, showers, toilets, dishwasher, faucets, washing machines, outside faucets, etc. and multiply it by 3. Example: a house with 11 fixtures x 3 would be 33-Gallon tank. We would suggest our 44-Gallon tank, which is the next larger sized tank. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: under the read cap is a black plastic plug, inside the water tank. Is that suppose to be removed?**
A: That thing under the red cap that you call a plug is not a plug. Think about it! The tank is precharged with 25psi which is pushing the bladder so hard against the fitting end of the tank that it pushes the part of bladder covering the hole up into it some so it looks like a plug to you! I assure you that what your referring to is the bladder! Do not mess with anything under that red dust cap because you will ruin the the whole thing if you do.

**Q: on the back end of this tank - what is the opening size**
A: As of this date (Feb 2020), the tank has a 1” male NPTM (national pipe thread straight mechanical vs. male NPT which is tapered). Code usually requires male pvc to be connected to female if using brass so, for this tank place a female-female coupling to the tank then continue with pvc to pump/house.

**Q: why does the tank runs when there's not water running or leaks?**
A: not understanding, is your pump running when u are not using it? Did you adjust the PSI of the tank with the recommended setting from your pump before using it?

**Q: I have 11 water faucets, toilets etc. what size pressure tank should i have with a 1/2 or 3/4 horse shallow well pump?**
A: The 'rule of thumb' is to count all inside and outside faucets/toilets/washers/etc and time the number by three then use a tank with the next larger capacity in gallons. So, in your case, 11water sources x3 = 33 so you would want at least a 35gal tank with 40gal being the 'standard' size. So, answer is you want a 40gal pre-charged tank.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for a small house with a modest jet pump
*by J***R on October 21, 2019*

This was a replacement for a smaller tank which failed. I had made a series of improvements to the rainwater catchment system at our small rural house, and the 5.5 gallon pressure tank was just too small for even a 1/2 hp shallow well pump. When the old tank finally got waterlogged I followed the standard advice of counting water outlets and multiplying by 3 to find out how many gallons the tank should be. Installed this over the weekend and it is a vast improvement. It took the pump about 30 seconds or so to fill this tank the first time, and now the pump runs properly without cycling on and off.
