Quality *by L***D on Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2012* Let me start with a bit of history -- I have been a longtime user of the trash can, originally known as Magikan. I bought my first model in the 90's. It was a terrifically innovative idea and made emptying the trash, normally a dismal prospect, at the very least, benign -- almost pleasant. Though a great idea, the actual implementation wasn't the best -- the can had a couple unfortunate design issues and was a trifle flimsy. I had bought a large supply of the bags in case they became difficult to find later and they lasted me a long time -- longer than the can. The lid-lifting mechanism broke but the can was still usable. I planned to buy another can after the refills ran out, but when that happened, I decided to keep using the broken can and just ordered more refills. I never got them. The American distributor first claimed that they were out of stock but would be sent in a few weeks. They cashed my check but I never received anything nor heard anything. i investigated and discovered that they'd taken my money (as well as that of a number of others) and blew town. I was more upset that I didn't get my bags than I was that they has stolen my money. A few years later I saw that there was a new American distributor and since I missed being able to use my Magikan, I took a leap of faith and bought a new can and another big supply of bags. I got everything I ordered but almost wished that I hadn't. The new can was horrible -- it had several unbelievably bad design flaws making it a major pain to use. The bags, however, were even worse -- they were so flimsy that it was almost impossible to avoid puncturing them -- almost anything rigid and somewhat pointy -- the corner of a box, a plastic straw, etc., would poke a hole through the plastic, and the can itself had two or three things which were perfectly poised to puncture the bag if one wasn't careful -- one of the design flaws I mentioned earlier. it was so bad that at one point the company, citing my loyalty as a longtime customer, offered to give me a new can as a gift -- they would even pay for shipping -- I wrote back and told them to keep it and explained at length why I didn't want another one of their cans even for free. So, when my supply of bags ran out, I was ready to give up on that great, innovative trash can which had somehow gone so wrong. Before doing that, I decided to check out their website to see if, perhaps, they had listened to any of the criticisms I had included in my letter and, perhaps, had improved things. What I found was that Magikan was no longer Magikan -- the company or the design had, apparently, been sold to Janibell. I looked over their website and what I saw looked very promising but having been fooled before, I felt a little cautious. I decided to check on Amazon to see if their products were available here, since I trust Amazon more than I felt like trusting Janibell, given my history. When I saw that they were I decided to try out their bags, hoping that they wouldn't turn out to be the same crappy bags, just under a different name. They weren't. These are, I am very happy to report, in my experience, by far the best bags ever sold for the Magikan system. They are very strong, have a pleasant odor, and work extremely well. I am very pleased. Next I plan to buy one of their cans, hoping that they have brought the same quality to the can design that they did to the bags.Why did I go to the trouble of the whole history lesson? It has been said, "the Internet never forgets" and there is a lot of truth to that -- if you go searching the net for references to Magikan, you are liable to find a wide variety of reports from throughout its history and many of these will likely be negative because though everyone agrees that it is a great idea, the company let down a lot of people over the years. The Green works well as you cannot see through the bag, however the clear shows everything and unacceptable. How can I specify Green so I am assured of receiving green.
