I have ordered this pen in the past. There is a protective silicone tip at the end. Ensure that remove all of it. I had no issues with the pen being scratchy. This Arteza 24 pack broke down to 62 cents per pen and I like it as much, in some ways more. G2's will get a dollop on ink that builds up that can smear, not the Arteza. If you can get a G2 for less than $1.30 your doing great because $2.00 is the normal price. Arteza feels great, ink flow is great, no skips, no dollops and the ink amount in the pen is the same.
